  • Very good fight. Frampton exceeded my expectations. Didn't think he was strong enough to stand up to Leo but he was, very impressive in the pocket also.

That said, cards were a joke. 117-111 is downright disgraceful.

That's a very conclusive argument you got there. I don't know what fight you were watching but Santa Cruz moved forward most of the fight and was the one that was backing up Frampton. Frampton tried to fight from his back foot but it lasted only three rounds after that he was getting pushed back by Santa Cruz, the only times Santa Cruz moved back is to reset in order to set up another attack. Santa Cruz did do what he does best swarming his opponents by using lateral movement and getting angles to land those looping shots that seem to come from everywhere and not to mention the fact that he knows hot to punch in bunches in other words he is able to put his shots together and keep his hands moving.

'Frampton dictated the style of fight and Santa Cruz'

It was Santa Cruz who was dictating the pace of the fight, if that is what you menat to say and he was imposing his style more on Frampton that the other way and yes the right way to say it is 'imposing the style' and you can only impose it on another fighter not the actual fight. Just some knowledge for you.

'Not to mention Frampton landed the better shots and pretty much everyone scored the fight for him.'

It was Leo who landed the better cleaner shots and more of them. Saying that of course I have to admit it was a good back and forth battle but for me Leo dominated most of it. and the last part of your argument is just silly but you already knew that or not..hmm
He made LSC respectful, and countered him majority of the fight. He also initiated all of the big exchanges (even though I thought he lost them all). Carl could have won that far more comfortably, but he literally would walk in and fight during times when he could have simply coasted.

Not sure what fight some of you were watching. Good showing for Carl. Should be simpler next time if he stops initiating trench wars.

      • I had it 115-113 Frampton. In any case, it was a wonderful fight.

... or, perhaps, clone C.J. Ross?... and make her judge all fights involving Mexicans?

Same. Close fight but Santa Cruz won the last 3 rounds which made the difference for me. Frampton was looking tired and forcing his work in the championship rounds, got hit with a lot of big punches and was getting outworked.

Props to Carl though, he fought a great fight, especially in the first half. I just thought Santa Cruz took over in the 2nd half of the fight and closed the show.

... look: Guido Cavalleri (who scored 114-114) gave the 12th to Frampton -- only in order not to have 115-113 in Leo's favor... (the guy knew that leo lost...)

10 and 11 were clearly Leo rounds, the 12th was a lot closer but I thought Leo edged it, he finished the round stronger. Not sure I can go with your theory of the judges intentions when scoring it to Frampton, maybe he just thought Carl won the round?
