Mayweather, by his own admission, did not want to fight the best when they were at their best. He called himself "smart" and "a rich coward". His own words and his own tactics. He played the media and used it to promote himself as a must-see attraction.

His fans will deny it, even though the man himself refuses to deny it. He knows what he is. He is a street hustler who managed to have exceptional boxing talent and work ethic and managed to maximise it. So he waited it out but in doing so, kept himself as the best physical specimen sport has ever seen. He never got fat, he never took drugs, alcohol, rarely ate bad food etc etc. Other fighters got older, Mayweather got smarter. He also managed to retain his in ring hunger for success whereas other fighters (ahem Pacquiao) saw massive pay checks and fought passively because they didn't want their meal ticket to fade away.

Sadly, boxing is heading towards a direction where more and more fighters are not taking risks, are not fighting the best and when they do fight a top opponent, it's years after the fight was relevant or when said fighter showed relevant weaknesses. It's damaged the sport and damaged fans, many of whom have not only come to accept this model but also support it.

The difference is Manny fought 21 times since 2006 while Floyd fought 14 times.

Manny too rightfully some tune up fights, Floyd almost fought once a year, so when he fought the Ortiz, Guerrero of the world on PPV, he rightfully received critics.

+ As I stated in pevious posts, Manny is fighting really above his best weight at 147 (135 IMO), people loo at the Margo fight as a fluke.

But Manny was fighting a killer 6 inches taller and this fight took Something out of him.

Where did you even get "..Floyd didn't eat 'bad' food" from? He's on record stating that when he was a teen he got compt'd room service (motel), airline tix, when Whitaker needed to spar, with Floyd stating he only had change to eat cheetos and soda.
