If GGG moves up (I think they will) to 168 to get a title, they won't be back to 160.
All the possible money fights with 147 and 154 stars would be lost.

Wouldn't call Hagler a coward because he fought Duran and Leonard.
Hagler is not a coward, but he's NOT as respected as Duran or Leonard because they did move up for big challenges, thus the movie "Hands of Stone" and NOT "Marvelous." What would Marvin Hagler be without Hearns, Duran, and Leonard? He'd be GGG!

Floyd's retired and doesnt need to move to 160 to prove anything, canelo is obviously stuck believing he's not a MW and calls the shot vs anyone. Ward has moved up and GayLoveKin will be quite ineffective at 175 imo. There's no money there. He should've bit the bullet and gone down to fight Canelo. The best he can hope for is the British fans take to him, he beats brook, and then could maybe get a fight with Eubank Jr. At that point if he wants anyone to call him legit, he'll have to go to 168 and fight a top level fighter there, hope for a win, and maybe something big will come down the line. Perhaps the winner of Ward vs Kovalev, but he'd lose to either, so that will be that for him. Maybe 1 or 2 good names on his resume. His career has been steered all wrong, and is being viewed more and more as a joke.
GayLoveKin, what a smart creative guy you are.

Regarding Floyd, winning the 160 is not proving something but just having a greater legacy.

        Ward and Kovalev?
You can only find bigger guys to beat Golovkin?

Nelo, Martinez and Cotto (the last 3 "lineal" champions) should have been burned alive for ducking so obviously Golovkin, but u guys instead are shting on Golovkin for not havving big names on his resumes.

Though prime for prime, Hopkins was better than GayLoveKin, he still made his name beating smaller guys in tito, Oscar, etc. He had some ok competition, but had he beaten RJJ, Hopkins would be an even bigger legend than now. That's been the story for many MWs in history though. The division hasn't been stacked for a while.

            Agreed on that point.

Sht would do very big numbers.

The power of people wanting to see Floyd lose, even amongst the casuals would be a strong factor.

Maybe bigger than a somehow useless Floyd vs Nelo 2.

The big money fight still is Floyd vs Pac 2.
Not so sure. No one expects an older ring rusted Mayweather to beat a middleweight. There is no intrigue to bring the casuals AND non boxing fans in. You don't do 2+ million buys without folks that don't follow boxing buying the fight. Golovkin just doesn't have the fan base and name recognition for that.

But what we do praise Hopkins for was 1st, dropping to 156 and beating Oscar, then going up to win titles at 175. Hopkins did more than defend titles @ 160, which is why I put Hopkins ahead of Hagler on the ATG list!

                  Yeah, I am creative, thanks.

Martinez was shot after the Murray fight, and was going downhill before it. Cotto landed some good hooks early that he admitted he never recovered from. Now, Cotto could've fought GayLoveKin, but unlike Canelo, he's actually not a middleweight. He weighed 153 for geale....seriously? I never said Canelo should've have taken the fight either. I said he calls the shots when it comes to anyone not named Floyd, and it's true. Like I said GayLoveKin missed his big chance for a really big payday. He had no star power to negotiate with Canelo or dictate any terms. Pretty much every fighter has to give up things to make the leap to star status, GayLoveKin didn't want to do that. His team is also a joke and always seem to have a different story about situations vs others.

Yes, Hopkins did indeed made sacrifices to get to where he is, and the win vs Tarver was purely masterful, though I know everyone has excuses for that fight, but that doesn't matter.

Hopkins lost all of his big fights (Jones, Taylor x2, Calzaghe, Dawson) due to his lack of activity most of the time.

He made his name by beating smaller guys as you said BUT also defending the MW titles for a decade, then having a nice run at LHW being 50 ****in years old.

GGG is far from that and hasn't been fully tested.

Don't know how GGG vs Hopkins would have played.

I think GGG could have outworked Nard.
But I can see Nard countering GGG a lot then moving, winning some rounds.
Would have been a nice fight.

I've been following GGG in the olympics (I'm a big amateur boxing fan) and I think you guys underrate his boxing brain.
