People are too used to Kovalev being in one-sided fights. I think because a guy landed a few punches and went the distance, all of a sudden Kovalev didn't look good. It was a tough opponent and a what a 12 hour time difference? The guy has been living in America for years and hasn't gone twelve rounds in years.

360p stream? Kovalev was out of gas after the 8th and lost most of the late rounds. Chilemba was even winning the 7th till the point he got hurt and dropped. That's dominating? And what was Mayweather vs Canelo?

Kovalev won a close fight, dominated Chilemba only in round 8.

After this fight, Ward dominates Kovalev he will man handle him in another boring fight but he will win using what he knows clinch, hit, slip clinch hit etc.

Easy work for Ward, Kovalev will lose.

I'm glad Chilemba gave a good account of himself. He got some undeserved criticism on here the last few days (and was even compared to Brand..which is crazy).

He's a good fighter, and a difficult one to look good against. Good chin/defense. He fits into that 'if only he had power' category.
As far as 'gimme' fights go, it was a strange pick i feel, as he is one who will frustrate his opponent

I'm not surprised to see it go the distance, but i did think Kovalev was going to finish him there after the KD.

I had it about 116-111. I thought Kovalev did look sloppy though. And tired towards the end.

Kovalev was fully expected to win, and got the job done. When Ward beats Brand, it looks like it on.
I still feel Kovalev will win that fight, but Ward is sharper, faster and hits harder than Chilemba..so he's going to trouble Kovalev for sure.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out..roll on November.

i would love to see what a beterbiev or gvozdyk could do against him. he and beterbiev have each declined fights against each other once so maybe they should finally get it on next. would be a big statement if he could out-perform kovalev
That would be fantastic. With his movement, I bet he could give Stevenson fits too.

Eh, not really. I had him taking the 9th and the 10th because he was landing on Kovalev a lot. I only gave him a total of 4 rounds in the fight but he certainly rallied back after the KD.

November 19 Andre Ward become #1 P4P and officially will receive Mayweather's CROWN (Gonsalez isn't serious)

The demographic casuals saying it was close, they are mad, round 4 and 5 clearly to Chilemba.

Yes, he got himself trapped frequently, but when it was working he wasn't letting Kov plant his feet. That's one thing about Kov and GGG alike, they're extremely powerful guys but they like to plant their feet and have the opponent in front of them. When that doesn't happen, you see the off-balance and vulnerable stuff like tonight.

One area in which Ward is going to kill Kovalev is if you noticed how Chilemba would jab, duck the coounter, and give a counter of his own while changing position so that Kov couldn't counter back. That's bread and butter for Andre, who is quicker, stronger, and more precise than Chilemba.

A good solid workout for Kovalev. Kovalev is going about his prep for Ward very methodically and not leaving anything to chance. I believe that he will defeat Ward rather easily.
