Money, regardless of the reputation hit. Apparently he and K2 don't care how bad this makes them look, because payday.

At least Brook is a name and is undefeated. Rather that than some random middleweight bum.

Lots of excuses being made for Triple G

The same people were blasting Canelo

I really can't defend G with this pick

He should have moved up a weight rather than bring a guy up from 147

I'm guessing negotiations with Eubank Jr fell through. Even then, there are still better options if he wants to stay at MW and can't get the belt holders - Andy Lee is a solid, known opponent and a different kind of challenge due to the big height and reach difference along with Andy's heart. Khurtsidze is still a fight hardcore fans would like to see, and once again poses a different challenge due to him being the MW Mike Tyson. There is even a very promising prospect in Maciej Sulecki. ****, I'd even rather see Peter Quillin than this.

He doesn't have the time and fights to waste so I really don't get it.

Credit to Brook for taking it, but for him that's a move that took way more balls than brains.
I think he basically took it because he had a goal of fighting at least 3 times this year and thus far, he has only had 1 fight. If he didn't get something lined up this month,it would be November or December before his next bout, giving him only 2 fights the entire year.

After he destroys Brook, he still has time for a December bout if his team starts looking for an opponent now.

Well becasue Canelo, Jacobs, Saunders, Eubank all refused to fight but still should've pick a real middleweight tho..

Good for Brook now people will say he got more balls then those guys, and if wins those guys will really look bad

They needed to get something done asap after getting ****ed around for so long by multiple opponents.

They got Brook because they were working with Eddie Hearn for a nearly month straight working on the Eubank fight. All the UK **** is done by Hearn, he got everything in place with Sky Sports, the UK PPV, the revenue, the venue, the international network deals, etc etc. Everything was in place for Golovkin to fight. Eubank wouldn't sign, Hearn offered Brook with the exact same deal to Golovkin and they took it. I can see why given the circumstances.
This post. Whilst the fight itself is mediocre, it is abundantly clear why they would take the fight. Let's also not forget the added exposure to the UK market, which will do wonders for Golovkin's profile.
