Golovkin was also the first name out of his mouth after the Vanes fight.
Golovkin is the one with the exclusive HBO contract. He's the one in constant contact with HBO. He's the one with the locations on hold. He's the one that knows how much there's in the pool. Lara just can't make an offer because HBO's GGG exclusivity prevents Haymon from having any say.
K2 knows Lara is interested. That's all Lara can do until K2 decides that Lara is an option.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 07-09-2016, 07:47 PM.

We've heard all this phony talk from team ggg about fighting at 168 soon, then THIS. He absolutely should get reamed for this fight, by the fans and by other fighters as well. Ggg is not the victim here.

But a champion with 3 belts can't find a quality opponent due to ducking?...that should be a part of the narrative at least. I think Hearn & Matchroom really didn't want to lose out on that GGG monies, so they swung for the fences by offering Brook the same contract. Surprise to everyone, Brook's past callout of GGG was no joke. As far as situation goes, GGG was going to be bashed no matter who he got. I would have preferred Eubank Jr or Lara sure, but we got Brook...& only because I think K2 didn't want to do another 3 weeks negotiating with some new outfit.
