anything above 140 and at or under 147 is technically welterweight.

when a guy's conditioning coach in 2009 has him eating of calories to put on weight [i can provide links if i need to, but you can just watch 24/7 pacquiao - hatton to see it for yourself,] and still only weighs 138, he is not a welterweight. in that same year floyd lost over half a million bucks because he missed weight against marquez. this was when floyd was broke, mind you, and owed the IRS 7 figures.

manny could easily make 140 lbs today. floyd needed an IV to rehydrate after weighing 147. they are not the same size.

manny fought at welterweight at the end of his career, but he wasn't a "natural" welterweight. a fighter's optimum fighting weight and where he's fighting to make themost money can be different things. manny was a 135-140 lber fighting at WW for the money. this was esepcially evident when he fought hatton, and weighed 138 lbs while training at a caloric surplus.

He retired to avoid an undefeated Miguel Cotto too it was only after Manny Pacquiao destroyed him and the moment when Cotto looked older that's only when Floyd fought him.
      GGG is taking over.

It's not just his team. Fighters are ducking him left & right. And Golovkin has challenged Ward's shit talking about him, exposing "SOG" as turning down an HBO offer to fight him. I have yet to hear another word about it from Ward.

Yes he was small Blowing up for bigger fights. I recall the weight gainer shakes he was drinking to meet his 8000 calorie a day regimen.
However not sure it was a disadvantage. I'd rather train with a calorie surplus than a deficit. Which senerio would make for the more effective training.

Team GGG cant ever get their story straight when it comes to Ward. They make real clowns of themselves. This has been detailed on this board over and over and over. It stime to let go of the idea of GGG challenging Ward... EVER.

If everyone is looking up than they'll never be fights between fighters in different weight classes, just saying.

It's also time to let go of the notion that Golovkin ducked Ward.

you'll be a better athlete, most likely, if you're not starving yourself. that's obvious.

but thats not the only outcome of losing weight. if you fight smaller guys when you boil down in weight, and it's an advantage. that's how virtually all pro boxers operate todya. most of your favorite middleweights walk around 180+, welterweights 160+ etc. they boil down to the weights at which they do their best sparring with diet and hard work.

then, during the weeek or so leading up to the fight, they limit their water and food intake. after the weigh in they drink fluids with electrolytes and eat several meals, and maybe even take some PEDS, to the tune of 10-15+ lbs overnight. if your opponent doesn't gain any weight after the weigh in he's going to give up 10 lbs, which is huge in a boxing match, especially a long one.

One boxing cliche that's usually right is " a good big man beats a good small man every time". That being said, it can sometimes make for an interesting fight.
An example of this was when the great WW Jose Napoles fought Carlos Monzon. Napoles showed why he was considered a great fighter, winning the early rounds until Monzon's size and strength eventually proved too much for the smaller man and he manhandled and eventually stopped by the bigger man.
I'm disappointed in GGG's choice of opponent (for whatever reason) but Brook is a big WW, who hopefully can make worth watching.
