That doesn't seem plausible. Floyd was having problems filling seats and Harris hadn't fought in the US in about 2 years. Main Events would have taken a huge loss in that fight. They were having a tough time getting Harris fights so I understand why they made the offer. I guess they figured they'd be able to make it back regardless of who won or lost.
Remember what the purpose of the Gatti fight was- getting Floyd a high profile PPV fight to build him because he had proven himself against top fighters (hernandez, Castillo, Corrales) something GGG hasn't done to this point (not that its all his fault).
My point is that there appeared to be a plan in place-look good against Brussels and set up the Gatti fight they had been working toward for at least a year. Main Events making the Harris offer would have deviated slightly from that plan and created more risk for Floyd but not themselves.
