As a person with zero skills in Spanish, may I ask how the sports media in Mexico are handling the duck? Are they still behind Alvarez or have they criticized him for it? or is it a mix of both? What about boxing fans in general? Thx.

He's getting burned at the stake. Let's just say I wouldn't go walking around in certain Mexican bars with Canelo gear on. This next ppv fight is going to flopp big-time. I used to be a HUGE Canelo fan and I'm still in shock at what he did! Most MexiCANS were at first just in shock for days, weeks, but now it's turned to pure anger from most.

Canelo dropping down to 154 is what pushed the rest over. The loyal fans could of held on a lil longer if he would of chose a TRU MW and said "relax" let me have one fight against a 160 lber...But he didn't! He's committing career suicide.

I have never seen someone that popular fall so fast in all my life.

Along with the $800,000 step aside money they wanted him to pay to Golovkin it makes you wonder did they ever really believe he'd hand over $1.1million? Miguel gets a lot stick for being a 'diva' but the bottom line for me is he knows what his name's worth and he knows how to make it pay.

Like you say maybe Golden Boy and Canelo should have paid more attention because they dropped the ball on this one.

The entire "We Don't *** Around" and inviting GGG in the ring but keeping him far away as well as Oscar at the Post Fight Pressure saying "Make Sure You Answer Your Phone Tomorrow Loeffler" and then to turn around and give up your belt and allegedly not much negotiating happened. It's 50/50. Many people bash him, while others defend him, business wise. Zurdo Ramirez keeps on criticize him on his dicision to vacate. The problem is that he ran his mouth, and didn't back it up

zurdo is a buster hasnt fought anybody of caliber besides arthur abraham who was washed up and over the hill...look at who he is fighting next for his first title defense.....with canelo i think its more bussiness than ducking...

Had he have said, "I'm not a middleweight. I stepped up to this division for the Cotto fight who himself isn't a middleweight. My immediate future is at 154lbs" then hay-ho, we don't have too much of a problem. Instead he creates a ****storm by running his mouth then running away. Completely avoidable.

Yeah have to agree, to paraphrase Mikey Garcia, Canelo should of vacated the title and just said "this isn't my weight class, I just wanted to fight Cotto, the title came as an extra and that's it" but he messed up when he brought GGG into the ring, just a bad pr move.

It's a bump in road since the casuals don't understand boxing weights and that Canelo isn't a true middleweight. But whatever, I'm cool with the fight happening in 2017.

Except he still paid the $800K to GGG after all so he actually made a ****** decision by not vacating until right before the Canelo fight.
He used the belt as leverage in negotiations to get a bigger split and then thought he could drop the title and owe GGG nothing. Didn't work out that way.
