Yes, what Wilder did is fine. However, if he now says he won't ever fight Povetkin then that's a straight up duck and worthy of criticism.

Well the lawsuit and the difamation was wrong.

He could have waited until the investigations finished.

Fighters say a lot of things in the best of the moment. It has always happened and the examples are numerous besides being under different circumstances. If the sanctioning org orders the fight and he takes a lesser fight it is a duck. I have no doubt he was going to step in the ring with Povetkin till this happened, but that is my opinion only. Saying it's a duck now only skewers the facts of the situation. And again, I'm not saying it You saying it, not even pointing fingers....but there are a lot of people trying to blame Wilder. I just don't see it.

So if there is a lawsuit don't you think it should be aimed at the WBC And WADA rather than Wilder? They're the ones who not only stopped the fight but put the info out there.

          • All I know is that this fight should be in the works for October. The fighters won't get the same purse that would have been in place if it happened in April, but at least it will get made.

One way or another Wilder/DiBella knew about what was going on in Russia before meldonium was banned in the beginning of 2016. For Povetkin to have just traces of the drug in one of four tests placed could mean that it was still in his system from 2015.

What JAB5239 said about the probationary period sounds like a good idea though and should have been put in place before all of this went down.

            • the word you are looking for is FAT

I read all this and can't remain silent. I just can't understand why nobody can see it.

It is next to impossible for a drug to stay in blood-flow for 6+ month. Yet drugs can stay for even longer in your body. Where are they stored? Lipophilic drugs can get deposited in fat tissues. How can it be released back into blood-flow and ultimately get into urine? You have to burn fat. Don't believe me? Google it!

Now to Povetcin case. He tested 0 before the camp and maybe in the beginning of it. And tested 70nano during the hardest time of his camp when he is supposed to loose fat. This is the case his promoted will most likely make in front of WBC. It's not WADA (they make generic rules), not VADA (they run labs), it's WBC. Their ruling matters. And given that notice from WADA the ruling will likely be "clean".

If not - his promoter will go to court, it seems. And he will have his case.

I believe Wilder pull out of the fight, and he also stated to the media that Povetkin was caught cheating and so on. Google a bit. It was also posted here.

Good post man. If what you say is true then Wilder will have to pay Povetkin just like Floyd had to pay Pacquiao.

How can Wilder be the fall guy when the WBC stopped the original date? And you have just validated what I have been saying that their is or will not be a defamation suit against Wilder for what was reported here, esb, ESPN or anywhere else. How is he culpable for repeating what they reported? I don't need to Google it my friend, I have been following it.

If I recall correctly it was first Wilder who said he was off the fight and then the WBC postponed it.
Also Wilder should not speak based on journalists but based on the actual documents from the official organizations.
One thing is to say Povetkin tested positive for meldonium, which is incomplete but true, and another say is to go to the media and say: "He's a cheater, I always knew it" and so on.
