I guarantee Ward gets "injured" in this fight or in training camp...

If I can find somewhere in Vegas to take my action, I'd make that bet right now...
i wouldn't count zombie dawson as a decent opponent. just the name of a corpse who drained himself for a payday. ward could have become linear light heavy champ if he just fought at a catch weight but we know how hard it is to reason/negotiate with this man. he spent 5 years on the sidelines crying because hbo wouldn't let him fight periban, truax, and sartison. he only joined teh super six if all his fights were in his hometown/home coutnry. he thinks 50-50 in 15 months to ggg is a fair offer. unfortunately he lost his mind.

I've got no beef with Ward staying busy and getting the payday which he is contractually owed by HBO in exchange for his agreeing to the Kovalev fight in November.

In fact I hope Ward's strategy here is to pull up a smaller guy and try to knock him out since that would help hype up the PPV showdown with Kovalev—a fight which *richly deserves* attention from the casual fans (and impressive KOs help to generate that).

Now that you can see I'm not trying to hate on Ward, let's be real. Chilemba is a very good light heavyweight with a respectable résumé ... but comparing Chilemba to Brand??? Let's not go overboard here lol!!
chilemba and brand are in over their heads either way you slice it..no need for a drawn out dialogue

as long as ward vs kov happens in nov

brand's over his head because he's a 40 year old small bum. chilemba's over his head because he's figthing kovalev.

My gosh you slate many other fighters don't you? Aren't you laughing at this? Funny how you aren't critical here.. Brand is a stiff! He's actually a middleweight at amateur too & 40!

Lost to Badou Jack too! This is actually shameful & the nerve of people trying to brush over this whilst having a post history of bashing fighters for fighting individuals who are at WORST equal to Brand & at best way more proven. Golovkin being one.

......ok....so chilemba has not lost or drew with every world class fighter he has been in the ring with?

He would be in over his head vs Ward too...dude couldnt beat Tony friggin Bellew...good fighter but nothing special

Im looking forward to november.....anything besides ward-kov is just an appetizer for me

This fight is for casual fans to build hype for the Kovalev fight so don't watch it if you feel some type of way. The fight you want will be in November. Neither Kovalev nor Ward should take a tough fight before facing each other because we want both to be in top shape when they face each other.

He drew with Bellew once (could have easily been twice), has a win over dangerous punchers like Edison Miranda & Denis Grachev. He's a lot better than your typical "stay-busy opponent" and will be a good name on Kovalev's résumé if Kovalev manages to beat him (and especially if Kovalev stops him, as Chilemba has never been stopped).
I think he is the prototypical stay busy opponent. He stepped up in class and couldn't beat Bellew who is a champ but not considered a top guy. He is not a bum, but he is not any where close to very good.

What has Brand done comparable to drawing with Bellew & Oosthuizen & beating Miranda & Grachev?
