at this point porky medina would be something to die for, but he's going to keep on waiting for canelo to tell him when to take his panties off...

I agree there are future stars of the MW division that currently fight at 154. Will Golovkin be at the top of the heap 3 years from now when they arrive?

Loeffler is an intriguing discussion. He seems incapable of foreseeing the perspective of other promoters and fighters and thus isn't doing a great job of promoting Golovkin. His negotiating position seems to be taken it or leave it when he hasn't had much leverage. No one misses out on big money or an opportunity to build their name by not fighting Golovkin. Most of the MW guys have other options for good money and are young enough to get any lost money or lost "opportunity" back.
Not really a small MW, agreed, but at 168, he would be quite small, let alone 175.

Boxingscene has 5′ 10½″ for GGG, but honnestly he might be smaller, he looked really small next to Wade unless Wade was +6 ft.

GGG is in some tough situation due to his age and I don't think he has the right promoter to do the "right" things.

He'll probably end up with a Calzaghe like career (wich is not that bad) if he does keep Loeffler and his "euro routine" (and I'm european).

So you disagree that those were big exposure fights? Or are you acting like a troll and saying something derogatory to avoid a legitimate response?

Some much of that Porky Medina, OK he gave DeGale a tough fight.

But you guys accusing GGG of having a poor record... is Porky really "padding" this record?

Porky is kinda 168 Salidos version, a man who can gives you hell but if you beat him, "you just beat a bum who already lost x times to unknown guys".

Beating Porky won't help GGG, would be a fun fight agreed.

Just like Hagler, GGG is a small MW and I don't know how it will work well for him to move up to 175.

Hopkins did it, but Hopkins is a sixt footer and Tarver and Jean Pascal ain't no Ward and Kova.
And Hopkins did it after milking 160 with unification fights + DLH and Tito fights.

+ moving up because you can't secure big fights is just like admitting defeat on the "promoting field" wich is fishy.

What about firing Loeffler and K2 and getting a new promoter?

Loeffler seems to be unqualified to secure those big fights.

They need to invest on GGG and maybe overpay BJS and Jacobs to get some shine and sell future PPV events.

That's called promoting, it seems like Loeffler doesn't want to invest a single dollar and work more like an accountant than a "marketing" promoter.

There are big fights to be done at 160, and you will see, big stars like Andrade, Big Charlo, Nelo (from 155) will move up soon to 160.
They are quite young and big and will have too IMO.

They are plenty of fights to be done around 160, leaving this division is leaving a big stack of money.

168, you have 3 fighters and that's it + Jack is moving up soon.
Golovkin has been built from a 30 year old fighter from a Kazakhstan who never fought in the states to a 34 year old first tier worldwide superstar. Calling for him to fire K2 is absolute nonsense, they've done a great job with him.

You're also not understanding how K2/Loeffler work. Loeffler is licensed under K2 (Klitchko's) banner, but he does not report to them and doesn't take orders from them. He works for Golovkin. Loeffler's not rich in the same way ODLH/Arum/Haymon/Ryabinsky are. He's more of a marketing agent.

Mainly marketed and hyped by HBO, not Loeffler,
So YES Loeffler get the contract with HBO, he sold a white wrecking ball with a very solid amateur pedigree to HBIasO, wow, what a business man Tommy is!!

Golovkin isn't a world superstar yet, more a HBO star at that point.

Golovkin could be that "new boxing sensation" worldwide after Manny.

He has that potential but Loeffler is failing.

Old Bob would do a better job IMO.

Golovkin needs to get better opposition in order to get some recognition and improve his pro boxing level.
Tom is missing that point, he's building a Calzaghe like career to GGG + HBO US hype, not that bad after all.

Tom "euro routine" was good to launch Gennady's career but seems to hit a wall by now.

Depending if GGG as the potential and the will to be an ATG or just a champion with a long streak of défenses.

Nice post. I agree. Definitely would be smaller at 168 and 175.

Good post. I like watching GGG, but look at what Tom's done for him lately: GGG currently has one of his longest dry spells between fights because he thought the Canelo fight would happen. We all knew it wasn't going to happen, so Tom should have had another fight ready for this summer, just in case. My concern is that at GGG's age, he needs to stay active to stay sharp. Tom's vision of 'superstardom' is actually backfiring, with no big names for all of 2016! At this stage, Team GGG needs to be in deep with other star opponents. It's disappointing.
