This is exactly what most people expected.
Canelo is employing the same strategic tactics that many fighters have been using for many years....It's called waiting for your opponent to get old / shot.
GGG will have to look very vulnerable in the ring if he ever expects to get a fight with Canyellow girl.

Very disappointed with Canelo, I still like him but this is as blatant of a 'duck' as it gets and I don't throw that word around often

Right exactly. If there was any real interest from Canelo they would at least agree to a fight in principle, anything. There's nothing here whatsoever. They couldn't force Canelo to fight with his mandatory status and Golden Boy won't even commit to anything in the future. Golovkin has to move on, nothing here.

Did anyone realistically believe that this fight would take place in 2016? I sure didn't, even though I hoped it would. To be honest I don't think Canelo will get in the ring with Golovkin ever.

I'm convinced Tom Loeffler is a f'ing idiot..how many times do you need to have a promise broken before you say "Fk you!" I think i'm looking at this Golovkin situation a little differently right now because its clear as hell right now Loeffler just ain't the man for the job. Someone get Arum on this a.s.a.p to steal him from K2. Four years, four years of promises and every single last one by a relevant promoter flat out broken and you are talking about building up fights for next year..g t f o h. Open up that check book and make it happen or let that man go sign with someone else.

Loeffler is way to and professional , at least with the press. If this way Arum or DiBella or someone like that, they'd be cussing them out throwing out insults. Tom's strategy is he probably doesn't want to burn bridges. Neither way would force Canelo to fight though, he handed over his belt, that's all there is can't get any lower.

You're not really a fan if you don't understand why Canelo did what he did.

Canelo is the A side like Oscar was when he put a catchweight on Hopkins.

Difference being Hopkins understood he was the B side and dropped a few pounds then dropped Oscar.

GGG is such a small MW but couldn't drop a few pounds to make the fight of his career.

I remember Oscar also having a title to his name, not just a mexican PPV fighter like Canelo. This *****ass mexican can't fight a legit middleweight but doesnt wanna risk it with the 154 lb division. He should retire.

GGG can move on and fight 4 times a year until Sept 2017. He'll fight Eubank in the UK, then Jacobs, and maybe even DeGale.

GGG has the X-factor, people watch because he's undefeated and because he can KO guys at any moment. Canelo has nothing, he couldn't finish Cotto who is 35 years old and much smaller than him.

Everyone knows Canelo isn't fighting GGG while GGG looks strong. That's a fact. Canelo is not the fighter he pretends to me. No one is scared to fight him.

So its too late to do it for September yet something tells me that at least 1 of these 2 fighters will be fighting by then and they do not have an opponent yet.

Anyhow, I knew this fight was not going to happen this year.
