when you have 2 jmws fighting at 155 then is a CW 1lb above the limit, if you have two MWs fightin at 158 then is a CW under the limit... altough is more common for the CWs to take place above the limit than under the limit, only on rare ocasions like floyd-canelo ...
How common is it for a CW to be fought for the middlewight championship 4 lbs below the limit against a welterweight moving to middleweight for the first time?

I seriously don't understand people argument here. Weight classes are clearly defined. Rules of the weight classes are clearly defined. Did they change the rules recently?

154.1-160 is middleweight. Fighters aren't required to come in at the full middleweight limit to be considered a middleweight.

Since Floyd came in at 151 against Oscar and Cotto does that mean he wasn't a super welterweight champ?
fighters have fought a few pounds over their ideal fighting weight forever in boxing. They do it for non title fights or they do it grab a belt. Manny did it, Cotto, did and Floyd has done it. Floyd has held belts at 154 and has NEVER been a real Jr Middleweight and Manny won a vacant belt against another welterweight at catchweight to win a belt at 154. Canelo has fought 1 single pound above 154 mainly because he can while his camp has said for years he can still make 154. He hasn't fought at 160 and hasn't fought a single 160lb fighter. Calling him a middleweight is just ******. Just like calling Manny a Jr Middlewight just because he beat Margarito for a 154 title at catchweight of 150. Similar to how Canelo beat Cotto at 155 catchweight for a 160 title.

I'm not denying it happens all the time. All I'm asking for clarification on weight classes. As long as I can remember middleweight was 154.1-160. The WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO all classify it as such. Every state commission recognizes it as such. What I'm asking is if 155 isn't middleweight then what weight is it and when did the rules change?

that was a joke of a fight, i wont deny that, but the wbc should have not allow canelo to even fight for a vacated title, canelo did nothing to deserve that shot, the same apply when cotto fought maravilla...

easy, if the limit is 155 is called CW, mw has a limit of 160 not 155... CWs are fough more often above the limit for a reason... you will hardly see to MWs fighting at a CW under the limit, they will make their CWs 1 or 2 lbs above 160...

Both teams sick if you want to be honest. Cabell wasted a year, and Golovkin is on his way to wasting a year as well. You dudes sitting here arguing about it but what has team Golovkin done lately but sit around waiting for the same diva you guys talk **** about?

We know middleweight limit is 160. What is the super welterweight limit?

Of course it's not up next. Canela hasn't even moved up in the 156 lb division.

Anything above 154 to 160 is middleweight. Catchweight or not, he is fighting in the middleweight division.
