Even with that, i doubt that anyone was on the corner or on some website hawking tickets to the fight (most of the comps likely went to sponsors/local partners anyway).

Garcia-Guerrero sold over $500k worth of tickets, after Danny Garcia's last fight did over $1m for the Malignaggi fight at Barclays Cente (a venue that is becoming his home away from home).

The shows have been bringing in growing revenues at the gate, regardless of that reality running counter to your wishes; Thurman-Porter is this Saturday and the venue is already 80% sold out.

Fonfara-Smith Jr had a sizable paying crowd in the building, ad the shows placed in proper markets have had the crowds coming out to the venues.

I'll keep enjoying the fights, continue to watch towns rally around their fighters and good fighters coming in, and you'll continue to be a miserable ****. have a nice day
i always see you making or commenting on how great the pbc is but i never see you saying that golden boy or main events or top ranks or Roc nation are doing a good job or that you are enjoying their shows? why is that? are you only a pbc fan?

They do this all the time. They gave away almost every ticket to the devon alexander vs aaron martinez fight in phx. it was well documented on twitter by the pissed off local promoters who rely on selling tickets to build their local fighters. I have seen people talk about getting free tickets to most of the chicago shows and all the erislandy lara shows which isn't surprising.
Since PBC came out fans, media, rival promoters talked about all these tickets pbc gives away for free. LA Times were just the first to prove what is common knowledge with live gate figures showing half or a third of live gates you would expect with the attendance figures pbc releases. They are losing money on these events one of the reasons is they can't sell tickets. Arguing this is idiotic or you have an agenda and refuse to see the facts.

Just to play along, how much were the tickets that you paid for, and in what section of the building were the tickets that were given away.

        Here's a little extra rope.

Paid money out of my pocket to go see Andre Ward (and will continue to pay to go see Andre as long as he's fighting where I can get to), so not sure where you got off on that point; and, with Oscar still being Oscar, I do like seeing that they're doing in bringing along Joseph "JoJo" Diaz Jr.

Beyond that, Golden Boy/Top Rank/Main Events haven't put on compelling shows for so long that I've largely tuned out of what they've been putting on (will tune in for 'Canelo', and still root for Tim Bradley in his fights, but the rest of it does nothing for me.

According to BoxRec, Kathy Duva has been involved in all of 6 fight cards this year. Oscar De La Hoya has been involved in 21 shows so far, with all but four of the shows being, in essence, prospects squashing cans in a 500-seater in LA. Top Rank has 40 shows for the year, but 20 of them are feeder shows in China/Asia, and who knows how many of the remaining shows were just showcase shows in the US.

PBC gets praise from me because the fight cards that they put on are consistently better than anything coming from anyone on HBO (sans Roc Nation, as they've done a good job putting their bills together) and they run so many shows that you can ignore the bad fights/shows, keep things to only what you actually enjoyed, and there'd be so much good that people feel a certain way.

Of the PBC shows this year, I've sat and watched 15 of the 26 fight cards, and walked away happy watching 10 of them.

Rather than see the reality that I've truly enjoyed just over a third of the fight cards put on, people get hung up on the "omg, he's already liked 10 fight cards".

As I fight fan, I follow the fights and commit my time/energy to where I can expect to get the good fights.

Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Sport) in the UK, Yvon Michel (GYM) in Canada, Roc Nation and the Haymon-affiliated promoters (Lou DiBella in NY/Tom Brown in CA/Mayweather Promotions in Vegas/Warriors Boxing/etc), etc; World of Boxing in Russia also does a good job of putting together shows, and I'd imagine that the Sauerlands put on good shows (though I've rarely felt the need to chase down those shows).

Outside of Vargas-Salido (Martinez-Lomachenko was on the screen at this new spot, but I streamed the Provodnikov-MolinaJr card from the Showtime app, only looking up when the KO happened), can you name a single other fight this year that was a barn-burner, or simply just a good night of fights, that I've missed by ignoring the nonsense currently being put out by Main Events/Golden Boy/Top Rank/K2?

Will head out for the September Canelo PPV, and will likely head out for the Crawford-Postol, but until the day comes when the promoters tied to HBO start delivering fights (not every fight has to be 50/50, but this reliance on 10:1 or worse fights is a waste of my time), I'll continue to feel comfortable knowing I'm using my time for something actually productive or entertaining.

what i took away from the fight besides enjoying the card was that Corona now sponsors PBC. I wonder if Corona execs got the memo that PBC is dying?

Final rating was 1.246M so it actually was less than Spence-Algieri. Each PBC on NBC telecast has drawn less viewers than the previous one.

That's what you took away from it?

Corona is already into the 2 year of a 3 year deal with the PBC.
