I totally agree, sir. The point of a forum is for fans to express their opinions which aren't always positive and no, I don't think this will change the world. Just felt like ranting on this ridiculous concept. Some will fight me on it. I guess they like waiting for big fights to happen, but I don't. We're the customers and we are always right. Without us, there is no boxing.

For sure there is a rhyme & reason to marinating, but I tend to think its of minimal impact overall. Like sure there are times when if a fight happened a year from now it'll be flat out bigger for sure. But I think when you add in all the fights that get effed up over guys losing or looking bad or not happening at all that are being marinated I wouldn't be surprised to learn marinating isn't overall as great as people suspect it is. I think there is much more to be said for giving the customers/fans what they want & I think the sport grows in popularity with those fights + the best fights that can be made today whatever those fights happen to be even if they are 6mos-2yrs earlier than their peak upside timeline.

If you want an honest answer, the main reason this fight is not happening is because Oscar hasn't yet secured Canelo's financial future. I think in their eyes, Canelo could do with another couple of $10 million pay days before he goes into a fight with a guy who could bring that all crashing down. I am also of the opinion that Canelo's camp believe that he is not quite ready, physically or experience wise. I think you will see Canelo in with AT LEAST two proper 160lbers before this fight happens. It will also give him a chance to grow into the weight a bit more, and people might find that funny because of what he rehydrates too, but to me he doesn't look like a true middleweight, and the fact that he can make 155lbs shows that he isn't yet.

The other side of it is, the more they wait, if they can just eek this out another 9-12 months, Golovkin is that much older, he will be struggling with the weight that much more, and all of a sudden the fight starts looking more winnable. Every day that goes past without the fight happening the more it swings in Canelo's favor. Canelo is improving all the time, with every camp he seems to get a little better, he seems to add something to his arsenal. I think they are very self aware, and as frustrating as the above may be for boxing fans and Golovkin fans in particular, he (Canelo) is the star in the equation and Oscar is doing right by his fighter. For GGG, this fight is the one that gives him his first huge pay day, puts him on the path to being a bonafide star, and will probably catapult him into a genuine ppv fighter for the rest of his career, and so it is really only upside for GGG, which is why he wants it now.

I personally see the fight happening next year, I think they will probably have one more fight each this year. Try and get them on the same card next year, and if all goes well and they both win, they'll probably fight end of summer.

A good point would be what if Mayweather and Pac had fought BEFORE Marquez knocked him out. They both were more invincible back then in the eyes of many fans.

I can work if done correctly. Mayweather pacquiao was being talked about after Manny beat De La Hoya in 08 (everyone wanted FLoyd to come back for that fight). However it peaked toward the end of 09/ beginning of 10 after Manny beat Cotto and Floyd beat Marquez. The issue is they let it over marinate and Manny got knocked out before they had the fight which really took the luster out of it.

                  Marinating is for cowards.
Why marinate when you can rematch and earn more money.

                    Hey.

I do own a grill and have marinated chicken many times. That is delicious.

So true. it's just a way to put off the inevitable beat down.
