Great fight. Might have given a slight edge to Salido but too close to call. Draw was fair ruling.

Canelo has way better defense and more boxing skills that's why fighters I just named are having some of their worst offensive production in their entire career when they face canelo. These guys don't have the defense or boxing skills canelo has so they have to stand in front of their opponent and get hit almost 400 times in 1 fight. Elite fighters don't get hit like this.

I can enjoy a slugfest that doesn't have elite skill or defense just rock em sock em robots and I can enjoy the high skill you see from elite fighters. One is not better then the other it's like saying a comedy is better then a horror movie. They are just different and depends on what you in the mood for or your taste in fighting style.
Well said and we usually don't agree on anything

        What a great fight!

I'm happy about the decision. It was one of those fights that was close and both guys didn't deserve to lose. I thought Vargas had it won until the 11th, but Salido finished the fight strong.

The 130 lb. division is really heating up.

I thought Salido won the fight..I was surprised not one judge scored it for him...he's a dirty fk though with the low blows and head butts..

Very close, Salida surprised me as I didn't think he would hold up down the stretch, but he did & more...Salida should get an automatic rematch...

You guys are all missing the point.

Neither fighter is going to make any sort of good money. For what? Slugging, risking their life, potentially dying in the ring - and yet a stripper is pulling more cash?

how do you not see that as wrong?

Who cares if it's fight of the year when you've got people like me who work behind a desk all day making more money?

That is NOT how boxing should be. If fighters are going to go out there and do that, they need to be highly compensated. In the multi-millions.

UFC deals with this with their bonus structure. Fight of the Night bonus, Knockout bonus, tapout bonus, etc. There's incentive to press action. Boxing has no such. So why bother doing it?

Meanwhile people like Arum, Hearn, Haymon and De La Hoya pad their pockets with the multi-millions that should go to the fighters putting their lives on the line.

This isn't about Floyd. It's about a silly compensation structure and desire to see fighters either preserve themselves UNTIL they get the money, or fighters lobby to get better paid in exchange for that kind of action.

                  I had Salido winning 7-5.
                  Can't complain about the draw.
                  Salido is still a cheater.

I had Salido with a slight edge because he stayed more active, and pressed the fight even when he was in trouble. Vargas just couldn't close the book on Salido when he hurt him and that made the difference to me. It was tit for tat the whole way though. So the draw seemed a fare decision. What I didn't care for was the commentators obvious biasedness for Vargas, and the whole GBP/HBO production of this bout smelt fishy from the get go. They were almost crying out about the head butting by Salido,...but in all reality, I think both fighters were guilty for that. The low blows in the last round of the fight didn't appear intentional,.. but more like punches thrown by a dog tired fighter. Regardless of which side you were on, BOTH of these fighters deserve a lot more money and respect for their effort than the so-called big money 'elites' like pollo canelo. Great Fight!!!!!

I had it as a draw. For once I had it exactly the same as harold letterman, round for round. The rouns were fairly easy to score because the momentum swung fairly cleanly. Brutal war! How Salido gets up for these wars time after time and at 35 yrs old is beyond my comprehension.
Both these fighters deserve 6 months vacation at the beach.
