I scored it a draw so I was happy with the decision. It was an amazing fight. I feel like boxing needed that in light of Canelo puzzying out and Wilder/Povetkin getting cancelled. I don't think any of us would be surprised if a rematch gets made and I don't think any of us would be against it.

One of the best fights I've seen in years! Those two Mexican warriors helped give Ali a great send off.

Lmao Floyd fought a bigger guy in De la Hoya who had the judges, ref, and crowd on his side.

Canela can't fight a guy he outweighs and is technically in the same division. Idiot!

how do you not see that as wrong?

Who cares if it's fight of the year when you've got people like me who work behind a desk all day making more money?

That is NOT how boxing should be. If fighters are going to go out there and do that, they need to be highly compensated. In the multi-millions.

UFC deals with this with their bonus structure. Fight of the Night bonus, Knockout bonus, tapout bonus, etc. There's incentive to press action. Boxing has no such. So why bother doing it?

Meanwhile people like Arum, Hearn, Haymon and De La Hoya pad their pockets with the multi-millions that should go to the fighters putting their lives on the line.

This isn't about Floyd. It's about a silly compensation structure and desire to see fighters either preserve themselves UNTIL they get the money, or fighters lobby to get better paid in exchange for that kind of action.
Every fighter that enters the ring is risking their life.

But moreover, you don't understand their background. You don't think they will like to be quietly working behind a desk? Salido started boxing as a profesional when he was 15. Not because he liked boxed, he needed money to support his family. He didn't study or had job opportunities, and in boxing he didn't had the time to learn how to defend before being a profesional.

That's their style, what allows them to drag people and make money. You can have all the skill in the world, win cautiously, etc etc etc, and be a boring fighter that nobody wants to watch (e.g. Rigondeaux).

They are not handsome by any means, or have an outstanding personality, they are not outspoken. To simply put it, they are hard to market to the point of being a superstar where they could ear the multi-millions you speak of. Because as you said and understand very well, the boxing scheme is crooked.

So they do what they know best in order to provide for their families and make some money. Not the millions you make, but to the best of their abilities

And that's exactly my point and why the fight didn't impress me overall. What do they have to show for it? Nothing.

You take a guy like Edwin Valero, the only fighter in boxing to end his career with a 100% KO record. Nobody remembers him. Sure, exciting to watch, had nothing to show for it up until his death.

Compare that with a guy like Naseem Hamed, a guy who also gave some exciting fights, but also included defense. He was paid very well for his work.

All I'm saying is, fights like that shouldn't happen unless each fighter is making at least $1 million. Period. It's not worth it when you got guys like Nick Blackwell who have to have other fighters donating to their medical expenses because the downside wasn't enough to cover whatever. I don't want to see that crap. Preserve yourself with at least SOME defense until you are a big name, THEN go out there and slug when you're getting millions for the work.

I understand your point, and although i loved the fight and cheer for both guys, I don't want to see them on the ring together. At least not in the near future.

Other than that, you disregard everything i said. You don't understand their background and economical needs. What you describe as they money a stripper will make, to them in some cases may represent a career high (i know it was in Vargas's case), and money they won't make otherwise.

              It's money they COULD make.

Salido could bank a million rematching Lomachenko after that disgraceful win.

Vargas could bank a million challenging pretty much anyone else. The guy is Super Featherweight champion across two orgs FFS. Why isn't he going for unification?

I'm not dismissing what you're saying, I'm saying that both fighters could do way better financially. And maybe the problem is as you say - they just shouldn't fight each other, but rather other people. I like them both, but that fight was no Morales/Barrera.

I will remember it like that. A tribute for Ali. No matter the style, it was a fitting display for a sad occasion.

Pedraza aint going to do a dame thing. Dude is actually holding Edner Cherry's belt. Vargas and Salido make this dude quit like a bunch of other PR fighters.

VARGAS VS SALIDO WAS AN INSTANT CLASSIC:
FIGHT OF THE YEAR SO FAR ALONG WITH CANELO VS KHAN!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS!

THESE TWO ALSO DESERVE THE MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACTS & THE RESPECT FOR BEING ACTION PACKED TECHNICAL FIGHTERS THAT TIME AND TIME AGAIN DELIVER OUTSTANDING PERFORMENCES ON THE BIG STAGE!

{Side Note}: HBO commentators Jim Lampley , Max Kellerman & Roy Jones Jr. did a horrible job as usual pushing their Racist Anit-Mexican Agenda. Thats totally wrong and unfair we must get rid of these racist cowards from the sport of boxing. Seems like they keep bad mouthing the Mexican Fighters before , during & after no matter what , even during great performances or close fights culminating in a victory. They push this narrative that these fighters don't have skill and couldn't possibly beat the best fighters in the world , but these same guys rate Lomachenko as a world class top notch fighter and ORLANDO SALIDO beat Lomachenko, and JuanMa and others & has a great resume , just to give you one example of their racist double standards.
