If Haymon doesn't bail out Top Rank... is Arum finished?

[QUOTE=Scipio2009;16757493]^I disagree. For PBC to succeed, Haymon needs to lock in a critical mass of the top talent across the weight classes, which he's already done. He was never going to get everybody and, just like the UFC, he doesn't need everybody (though, with Ward possibly knocking off Kovalev, bringing RocNation and the WBA/IBF/WBO 175 belts under the umbrella would be a benefit)./QUOTE]
If PBC current talent is THE talent they will fail. They need a bigger critical mass of fighters & they need the bigger names.
Sure they don't need everyone, but they do need more guys. The UFC tends to have about 500-600 guys under contract at any given time & the elite-MMA world is much smaller than the boxing world the way I see it. PBC is probably gonna need about 1,000 fighters before they are a NFL of boxing. That'd be about 5% of active fighters. This is a long term plan. Once they get that TV deal they will probably start padding the roster again.Comment

That's what I'm saying... without Haymon agreeing to bail out Arum, all he has is Unimas.Well I shouldn't have worded it like that. There probably won't be a deal per se. But what I was trying to say is idk why Arum wouldn't be up for working with PBC at this point. He's getting 3rd treatment by HBO. He's in a lawsuit with Showtime. TruTV got canceled. He's the king of UniMas right now. And if he doesn't do something with Haymon the king of UniMas will probably be in his foreseeable future as he competes for HBO dates as a unfavored son like he's been doing.
He will try his best to get scraps for Bradley and Crawford on HBO but that's about it.Comment

[QUOTE=Eff Pandas;16758559]Since boxing promoters don't invest in anything... all Haymon needs to do is control the major TV networks in the US. The fighters will gravitate towards whoever has the dates. Seems like slowly Haymon will eat up HBO dates in the future so that makes it tighter for everyone else.^I disagree. Yep I'm sure thats part of the strategy with enticing fighters to join cuz of the exposure & dates. Although I don't even think the HBO thing needs to be a tactic to weaken HBO's dropping budget by putting PBC guys on HBO, although it very well could be. PBC & HBO can co-exist. I'm still of the opinion that at some point there will be PBC on HBO or PBC on Showtime assuming PBC can move forward to where they are trying to go. If (a big If obviously) PBC becomes what its trying to become "PBC" will have a strength behind it for boxing like NFL to football, NBA to basketball or NHL to hockey that either of those networks would want a connection to. Again let me clarify thats a big if & this will take years to do. Some of ya'll mfers ain't gonna make it to see it even if it does happen.Last edited by Eff Pandas; 06-02-2016, 12:21 PM.Comment
