Most the time, Rocky beat bigger guys. Most of Floyd's big name wins were against little guys like itty bitty marquez or hatton.

I'm not sure this really matters. But a lot of posters seem to think you can't be great unless you defeat bigger guys.

Clearly Rocky. Dude beat Joe Louis, Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles and Jersie Joe Walcott. The guys on Floyd's resume don't come close. The controversies with IVs and Catchweights also dampen Floyd's legacy, Rocky never had those.

Ezzard charles was his best win, but even he was past prime, over 80 fights in, started at middleweight.

dude may have defeated 8 world class fighters his entire career, whereas mayweather beat triple that in the same amount of fights

you do realize hatton turned pro at 140 and floyd at 130 right? Mayweather only had 6-7 fights over 135 when they fought

also floyd won titles in 5 divisions, he had his fair share of being the smaller guy

Louis had only one loss when Rocky beat him and the oddsmakers had that fight close. Pac had multiple losses when Floyd beat him and of course the IVs. Rocky was beating bigger men at heavyweight, Floyd had to use Catchweights.

I can also say Oscar, Mosley, and Marquez were all old and 40 when Floyd beat them.

At the end of the day Louis, Moore, Walcott etc > Pac, Marquez, Canelo.

Marciano wins.

Marciano was far better.

Floyd should have losses (for example, Castillo I).

Marciano never needed a home referee to protect him. And he never ran like a frightened chicken, the way Floyd did. He never avoided anybody.

Nothing to do with it bud.

I am one of the biggest Flow mo's NSB has ever seen and I have always rated Marciano higher and a top 5 ATG.

It's about being objective, and understanding the context of eras. Floyd is the better fighter, but what Marciano did was more impressive and that determines greatness as well. It's not a knock on Floyd either.
