Not fighting at 155 was for the principle of boxing...for what the 160 belt represents...& I applaud him for sticking to it. 164 is not a weight class...but, from a business perspective, the only way Ward would be eligible for a 50/50 split against GGG was at a CW of 164. Once again, a CW was invented for 2 fighters from 2 different divisions. Such is the case. If Ward wanted to fight at 168, he should have changed his tune on the money split. This is all speculation, but you can't make blanket statements & forget to leave out the circumstances which lead to animosity.Comment

Do you truly believe that K2 is holding up the fight from being made over a money split? I find it hard to believe when Canelo vacated, then GBP proceeds with a court case coincidentally to avoid having to return to the negotiating table any time soon. At 155, I believe the money split should be closer to 50/50 because Canelo isn't giving up anything to get this fight (but winning it would improve his legacy immensely). If he is going to be allowed to host the fight at 155, then the money split should reflect it in favor of GGG. That makes business sense. That's all I'm trying to say. I always believed that A-side should only account for the purse split. And the reason why fans now think A-side should decide everything is a byproduct of FMJ doing it. And so, just because FMJ did it, every other boxer from now on wants to do it? That's a cruel pill to swallow if you're a boxing fan. What should it matter what ring size it is? What should it matter what company you buy your boxing gloves from? All of it is BS until the fight is made. Canelo should make the fight, or go back down to 154. Any other action would be considered cowardly in my opinion.Comment

That's just another excuse. Risk losing? HE is the one who wants to be King Of The Mountain, take on all comers. At one point either he or his people said anyone 154-168. So what the risk. The experience he'd gain fighting a slick awkward boxer like Lara would be invaluable. He needs to fight Lara at some point within the next year or two.
And while Lara is yelling from LMW, we got Jacobs fighting ****in Sergio MoraComment

The "He" in my post was Lara, but in your post, it sounds like you're talking about GGG. Lara won't risk moving up to 160 just to lose to a contender when he can potentially talk his way into a title fight. GGG losing to Lara when he hasn't done ***** @MW looks horrible, which is why the match-up hasn't happened yet. The "excuse" seems pretty straightforward, but yet here we are, it's another month and people are still wondering why it hasn't happened yet. Lara will wait until he's plucked from the cherry tree rather than actually FORCING the issue. Where we differ is that you believe the onus is on GGG to give Lara the shot because MWs are avoiding him, while I feel like Lara should actually work himself into position by facing Jacobs. That's essentially why this conversation comes up after every Lara or GGG fight.

Haymon will start the ball rolling if only Lara would employ his services. Sadly, he thinks he doesn't have to do anything other than impress the gullible media. He knows he's one of the most boring fighters of this generation, yet he behaves as if promoters would be dying to contact him.
Jacobs probably pukes just the thought of fighting Lara. But I'm dying to see this fight. I've stated the reasons why.Comment
