I'm pleasantly surprised that Cleverly is the frontrunner. I'm also surprised that there is enough money for Cleverly to be lured away from the easier fight vs. Braehmer (which would also be for a belt) when Shabranskyy's team turned down the fight because they couldn't even get $400K. Maybe his team isn't too confident of Braehmer agreeing to the fight him?

Is Cleverly really going to choose Ward (and a sure loss on his record) over Braehmer (and a shot at a belt) for less than $400K though?

I wouldn't be surprised if Brand gets the call. He did beat an undefeated Russian in his last fight and his only loss is a split decision vs. Badou Jack. Plus he's an orthodox power puncher which is the type of opponent Ward has been focusing on with the Kovalev fight coming up.

He fought on Spike TV as the dog. UK money seems to be feast or famine. Either you're ppv or you can make more in the USA.

Beterbiev fights next Saturday on ESPN. Fonfora on the 18th.

Cleverly's coming off a rough loss to Fonfara and before that he was beaten by Bellew and those were his only significant fights since being destroyed by Kovalev. There's nothing he can offer against Ward, Brand might actually be a better fighter right now than Cleverly (who sounds like he's just looking for a paycheck). Skoglund is Zac Dunne level.

Honestly I would've been fine with Maxim Vlasov or Vasily Lepikhin. Both are experienced, fundamentally sound, and willing to push themselves in a hard fight.

I voted for Cleverly. Nate is a solid quality fighter who is gritty, has heart and will go in there and actually try to win - unlike Ward's last two opponents.
