Any weight below the maximum is valid for a middleweight fight. Floyd and Maidana weighed 147 for a jr middleweight championship fight.

Where I have issue, is the situation where fighters limit their opponents weight, not just their own. Sanctioning bodies should not recognise catchweight fights valid for their championships. If a fighter wants to weigh below the maximum, thats fine... there can be advantages to that. Manny Pacquiao looked his best at around 144-145lb. But limiting your opponents weight shouldn't be allowed

So what, none of Canelo's 155lb fights were sanctioned at middleweight except Khan, who is a welter LMAO

And neither Mayweather nor Maidana were JMW's, so terrible example.

His intermediary weights and conditioning prove that, and Reynoso has also confirmed why they do it on numerous occasions..... Canelo gives himself an extra pound that his JMW opponents likely do not benefit from quite as much as he does.

I've said plenty of times on here, that Canelo makes himself relevant to Golovkin by fighting in the middleweight division, for middleweight titles. If Canelo goes back to 154 then I have no interest in Canelo-Golovkin because its irrelevant. Golovkin in that case can continue his quest to unify the division, which isn't fully possible atm if Canelo holds the 'lineal' title hostage. Its a prime reason why we should forget the 'lineage' crap, but ppl still make it relevant
