Like I've been saying for the past year of Lara saying this, if Golovkin can't get better, than at least try. In this case the only options equal to or better than Lara are Alvarez, Jacobs, and Saunders. If he can't get any of them, why not try to fight Lara? If it doesn't happen, fine. At least they tried.

That's how Golovkin got such a following to begin with. He fought the best available opponent. This is a total win-win. If Lara's side avoids the fight, then Golovkin never has to hear about him again. If the fight happens, Golovkin will crush him with ease and get the best name yet on his record.

My friend there is a 3rd possibility-that Lara forces GGG to fight his fight and maybe doesn't win but makes the fight "boring" and close and GGG doesn't get a KO.

I really don't think that strategy would be effective against Golovkin. He feasts on guys that just run from him and has a good enough trainer to make sure he uses the proper tools Lara is susceptible to. Even if Lara survived 12, he'd take a beating in the process.

Lara is not too small for Golovkin. That being said, Golovkin wants no part of accomplished slicker boxers with extensive amateur backgrounds like Lara because they will not fight the way he prefers his opponents to fight. The GGG marketing team is not trying to risk Golovkin's KO streak by putting him in the ring with Lara. It's not ducking, it's business. Furthermore, Lara brings nothing to ring for Golovkin except risk.

I agree that is the likely outcome but if the fight is in Vegas, (20x20 ring) standard instead of other places GGG fights where the ring size is smaller, the outcome may not be so set in stone.

It's not a knock on GGG either. Boxing and moving like that can frustrate anyone and take them out of their game. ALso, if the fight goes 12, we will see if GGG's stamina against a Lara type would hold up.

considering how comfortably ggg makes weight according to his team and his fans, im pretty sure he doesnt go remotely close to 180lbs+. lara has been able to rehydrate into the mid 170s from 154. so im pretty sure these two would be within 5lbs of each other come fight night.

I totally agree with you as it pertains to GGG. I was just making the point that although well-intentioned, the IBF extra weigh in really doesnt prevent fighters from adding alot of weight before the fight.......

I would like to see that fight. Golovkin by late ko or unanimous points win. I don't think Lara can slip GGG's punces for 12 rounds. Lara is calling him out tho, so fight should happen.

Of the names mentioned, Lara is the only one I'd be 100% willing to spend PPV dollars on. Degale would be a maybe. The other fights have ZERO intrigue.

and Im the complete opposite. There is no suspense with how a Lara fight would end. Lara gets ghouled. The only "suspense" would be which round he hits the floor....

I don't know how much weight exactly would separate Golovkin and Lara but I don't need fightnight weights to know that GGG much bigger. Lara would look very small in front of Golovkin and the size difference is the main reason why I'm not really interested in this fight.

Canelo was much bigger than Floyd, Margarito was much bigger than Manny, it's the skills that count!
