As people have said, some boxers are being paid more than $1m to fight bums sometimes, so they're going to want double or triple, or even more for fighting a real fight.

I know i certainly wouldn't do a job that is 5 times more work for not much more money. It's hard to blame the fighters sometimes, but the people paying them are the ones ruining good fights being made because the price demand becomes too high.

That said, $1.6m is more than fair for a fighter like Vargas, he's not even that well known and especially not in the UK unless you're a really hardcore fan of boxing. His only selling point is that WBO belt.

It's alright saying Brook hasn't fought anyone yet, but Khan didn't want the fight and now they have offered good money to fellow world champ in the division and they have turned it down. Garcia won't fight Brook and probably waiting on Floyd to return, that 0 is a selling point of the fight. Thurman and Porter are tied up. Spence's team has turned down the fight too.

They're looking for a good fight for Brook next. The best bet would be to pay over the odds for Vargas to try and pick up another belt. Their other options are probably someone like Peterson but what does it really do for Brook if he beats Peterson? nothing really.

Brook gets a lot of criticism for his resume but other people aren't exactly willing to fight him, even for a fair price.

You have it mixed up; Hearn's offer was apparently three times the money that he got for the Bradley fight, which is why Vargas' manager is trying to get him to sack up and take the fight.

Vargas is with Arum. He won't be paying anybody that for fighting bums. When you consider this would be 3x his highest payday, then it's ******ity to not take it. He won't make that much anywhere else anytime soon.

It's time for people to admit Brook is being avoided like the plague. The only fighter to fight Brook is a fighter known for fighting anybody, anywhere, Porter. This offer is more than fair to Vargas. Who else is Vargas going to fight? I highly doubt HBO is reserving a date for Vargas. His title fight against Ali wasn't even the main event. He's not fighting on the Crawford undercard. This is an opportunity for him to get paid well and grab another belt and immediately be talked about as one of the best in the welterweight division. I don't understand him turning down this fight.
