eh more or less. His last hoorah against berto didnt sell well and didnt even pack the mgm. Lets not act like he hasnt retired before. you really think mayweather would have gotten this much attention if he had mentioned a possible fight with anybody else (aside pacquiao rematch)?

                Its a sideshow

when there is nothing left to prove - all that's left is entertainment. event spectacles. that's what this is - a vehicle for him to use a promoter. I am curious to see how he reinvents promotion as he reinvented a postmodern hip boxing champion who knows how to have a gread time and showcase athletic abilities as he ascended the throne took the crown from de la hoya and ruled for years beating all comers for record paydays - which became part of the marketing and advertising (being paid premiums - quite genius) gotta give that to him

if it creates awareness for a great show and entertainment I liken it to a jetski towing a professional surfer into a monster wave. the undercard fighters lack the charisma and ability of a young Floyd mayweather. they lack the pinache and original point of view to lure non boxing fans to the sports/events. so if doing this can bring focus to his roster of talent and more eyeballs and wallets to the table - he has again transcended the game and done something other promotion companies have not - provide something unique and interesting to the audience member and create more value (albeit entertainment) for money. good on ya Floyd and thanks for keepin' it fresh!

If Floyd isn't getting 9 digits it doesn't sound like he'll comeback. I question the whole thing like I said.

And I suspect if Mayweather vs McGregor was going to happen for real none of what you mention matters. The mainstream freak show appeal, the always loyal boxing fans, the always loyal MMA fans & probably some wrestling fans would all jump in to make that the 2nd biggest PPV (buys &/or revenue) involving a boxer in history guaranteed & I'd say it'd have a good chance at beating Manny vs Floyd & the huge take that had. **** I almost hope it happens, despite the freak show aspect, just so I'd be proved right in how huge it'd be.

He's still freshly retired & the all time leader in PPV buys & revenue + a future HOFer + has never lost. There is gonna be attention at what he does if he were to comeback for sure. But yea sure at some point if he pulls that trick too many times they are showing his replays on Fox Sports 1 like the Ray vs Hector replay was shown on USA. And hell maybe that would be this time, but I'd bet strongly against it. In particular considering he's saying he wouldn't comeback for less than 100M & I can't believe anyone is going to pay him 100M for something they don't see doing well.
