The path forward, from my perspective, is rather simple; Alvarez-Golovkin, for good or bad, will be settled by May 24th, the WBA has already made it clear that Daniel Jacobs is their mandatory challenger and Team Golovkin will likely be formally called before May 31st, with WBA rules seeming to point to the actual fight having to happen before the end of August (likely sooner based on when the WBA determines Golovkin was due to make a title defense).

Daniel Jacobs doesn't have to do much else but train; he's got his July 30th date seemingly locked in, has a pretty quality opponent lined up (in case Golovkin chooses to walk), and the WBA's calendar is lined up in his favor.

If Alvarez-Golovkin gets made, Daniel Jacobs has a fight date already lined up; if Alvarez-Golovkin doesn't get made, the WBA forces the fight, Golovkin walks, and Jacobs likely fights Blanco (on the date already in hand) as the first defense of his Super title.

And I suspect this Barclays thing has been the plan for awhile (I know I heard about Jacobs & Lee being in play a couple months back) so how much longer do you want Jacobs to sit around rooting on Canelo being a momo?

And I mean if GGG vs Jacobs were needed to get made via the WBA's demands my assumption would be they could do it in Nov. or Dec. with both having a fight in between. So I don't see much of a problem with this, but I can understand those more cynical than I having a problem with this news.
The WBA has already said that, if Alvarez-Golovkin isn't made, they will name Jacobs the mandatory seemingly immediately; doubt that K2 would be able to put the fight off to Nov/Dec.

Big difference between team gg and team Jacobs. Abel and gg sound like thugs and Jacobs coach is nothing but respectful

why would Golovkin walk? He's already said he welcomes a Jacobs fight.

            Jacobs-Lee is solid.

The only reason I can think of that one would be this paranoid is to establish a basis to excuse a potential bum fight.

Jacobs fighting in June/July should have no affect on an October/November fight date. PBC fighters are generally inactive because they can only fight as TV dates become available.
why kick it to Oct/Nov when it could be done in Aug/Sept? And do you think GGG is going to sit on his arse until Oct/Nov without taking an interim fight? I mean if he could get Saunders then it would be fine, but who are we kidding? Saunders doesnt want that work.....

The other poster made a valid point. Jacobs can simply wait 9 days, and if Canelo vacates then GGG-Jacobs could be next. But nope, waiting a whole 9 days is too much, so instead you think its a great idea to see Jacobs vs a scrub in July, GGG vs a scrub in Aug, and then MAYBE they fight later in the year? You like to "marinate" more than Arum.......

He's not even the first option. You damn well negotiations won't take 15 days. There will likely be an extension like there always is. Ain't nobody got time to wait for De La Fishnets trying to stretch this out and put every advantage possible in the contract.

In addition, you know mother ****ing well that GGG/Jacobs cannot POSSIBLY be finalized by August/September. You have a process:

                WBA orders it
                Free negotiating period
                Possible purse bid
                Look for venue/Promo/press tours, etc.

And on top of that, you have a network dispute that will need to be ironed out. This fight happens October/November/December at the earliest, even if Jacobs gives up his July date.

Jacobs vs Lee at the Barclay's has been talked about way before this. Let him get his fight at the Barclay's and we'll see what happens next.

On the first issue you raise a valid point. There is no guarantee that in 9 days the Alvarez situation will be decided one way or the other.

As to the second point, there is no "network dispute". GGG is the super champion, and the bigger draw, so the logical course of action is for them to present an offer to Jacobs (Haymon). If those negotiations go nowhere, then of course a purse bid would be ordered, and all that, but Im cautiously optimistic that a deal could be made that would have the fight on HBO (or HBO PPV)........

As for the Aug/Sept date, I disagree that it couldnt be done in time. If Canelo-GGG happens it will be on Sept 17, and that fight is 10x bigger than GGG-Jacobs. I dont think 4 months is too short to get it done, assuming all parties actually want to get it done.

Jacobs is going to want to fight Golovkin after Canelo, assuming Golovkin wins.

It'll be a bigger $$$ fight for him. Same thing for Saunders. I'm assuming Golovkin's PPV buy-rate will increase--- even if just slightly. That's when it'll be more worthwhile for Jacobs & Saunders to face him. Saunders especially is looking for that big pay day.

jacobs could wait 9 days until he finds out if canelo-ggg is made. if they do fight he can still fight on july 30. nothing stopping him. if they don't he has a big fight with ggg in september but oh well he's commiting to tba.
