yeah Canelo has good movements, but Gennady's flow is relentless so lets see how Canelo reacts to that.
How Alvarez Neutralizes gennady's Jab

If Alvarez defends like that against GGG, he better hope Golovkin respects his power....Trout and Cotto were helf assing punches from too far out because they didnt want to risk a hard counter they couldnt brace for....guys who didn't fear those counters got close to Alvarez and smothered him rather easily(see Larry Mosley, Lanardo Tyner, even Kirkland except he has a terrible chin).
I think it would be better for Alvarez to neutralise GGG's jab by using his hand speed......Golovkin has fought at middlewight pace fro long....his outboxing versus Lemieux and Stevens was very slow and methodical. Canelo grew up fighting at the lighter weights and has seen more speed and higher paces than that, he should do 2-3 bursts of combinations and some potshots from the outside each round... power shots are almost always more appreciated by judges than jabs.....GGG will have to abandon the jab and press more if he wants to win......
Of course that gives you the problem of dealing with his pressure....if Canelo cant hurt him, he gets worn down and stopped.Last edited by -Hyperion-; 05-09-2016, 12:14 PM.Comment

how do you envision him doing it?
I think he'll start by jabbing with him to disrupt gennady's stick.
Once the timing is down Alvarez counters it with his new fav punch the right hand to the body.
The jab will be nonexistent when they're fighting inside. I don't like how gennady took them bodyshots Willie Monroe inside.
gennady is far from a flawless fighter and has only faced opponents he eclipses in ability.
imo the quality of his performances will plummet when he finally steps up in levels.
Canelo is a good fighter. I can't wait for this fight.Comment

people don't respect Canelo's defense at all, he is not a reckless fighter at all, the man has some BOXING SKILLS. I don't know if it is because he is Mexican if that is why people don't want to acknowledge the man BOXING SKILLS and only want to talk Power. He himself continues to say that he has more that just power which is true! As for neutralizing the Jab? Simple, MOVEMENT!
So we're going to just continue to pretend like Canelo don't have good Defense and can't be slick in the ring when he needs to be? Yeah OK he can't cut the ring off great blah blah blah but he does have some athleticismComment

Canelo better improve his stamina because if people are wanting him to put together multiple combos throughout the whole fight, while moving his body that much to avoid shots, he's going to be completely exhausted, all the while getting hit with body shots. If Golovkin doesn't respect his power, Canelo's ****ed.Comment

I don't think he does. He has nice hand speed that might allow him to counter Golovkin's jab, but I don't think he can consistently do it.Comment

Investing in the body early will makes gennady manageable down the line.
Body shots sap energy and power. Once gennady's punching power is down the threat is neutralized.
At that point Alvarez is comfortable due to having the better defense.Comment

I'm going with Canelo! Because I seen him demonstrate his skills vs far better competition compared to just fighting guys who are tailor made for him. Again GGG can be hit, he doesn't move his head much so hitting GGG will be a lot more easier than hitting Canelo based on their styles! Canelo does have enough Pop to do damage, not sure why people are thinking Canelo won't be able to hurt GGG
But how many times have we said this? In 2013 Curtis Stevens was the best he faced, in 2014 in was Geale, 2015 it was Lemule and Murray. All lost in dominating fashion. If Canelo takes the challenge this year we'll soon see how much better he is when compared to those guys.
The only fighter Canelo fought that was head and shoulders better than GGG comp is Mayweather and he lost that fight handily. That isn't an impressive track record in my opinion.
But I enjoy the debate, hopefully, the winner ( no matter who) gets full credit for their win. It would be the best win on both men's resume to date.Comment

It seems your typical anti-Golovkin poster is the one that tries their hardest to envision a GGG loss to Canelo. The ones that don't realise it are the ones who'd deflect after and say oh but he'd lose to Ward though (which most logical people here would believe that anyway, Ward's a much bigger and better fighter) as if its proving a point. Why would you want to see a fighter lose so badly? Reminds me of the posters calling for Floyd-GGG.
A clear cut example of having an established position before considering the factors at play, also known as bias. Sad really
Canelo would have to be a totally different fighter in the ring with Golovkin, something we haven't seen before. Its not impossible, but highly unlikely. Canelo may be a slightly better boxer than Golovkin, but its not enough to keep him off him. If Golovkin didn't have an iron chin (as showed with him eating Stevens' strongest wild left hooks), the fight would be more interesting inside the ringComment
