How Alvarez Neutralizes gennady's Jab

Yes. To get inside Canelo will have to get past a great jab. If it were that simple to back GGG up everyone would be doing it. Footwork will be the biggest difference-maker in the fight.Hes going to get walked down against the ropes and hit with lots of shots to the body or up top. He wont be able to move away because of his cement feet and his headmovement alone wont help him against a guy that cuts the ring off like GGG so hes going to have to use his feet to get out of the way and everybody knows he cant do that. It all depends on if he is able to back GGG up and gain his respect. Otherwise hes getting knocked out.Comment

gennady gets his azz eaten alive on the inside by an elite Mexican fighter.
At range Alvarez would nail his body with the long right downstairs.
Once his energy and power is zapped from them bodyshots he's a sitting duck with a big bobble head begging to be hit.Comment

Lacked control? Golovkin was in control every second of every round of that fight. Go watch it again. They're basically leaning on each other for 2 rounds. The only reason it was impressive was because Monroe was finally landing something. He still didn't outland GGG, though, and the shots he was absorbing were much more devastating than the one's he was dishing out.
He quit because he took such a beating. If you call that success, well....Comment

People are confused. You don't have to back gennady up to get on the inside.
Willie Monroe, who isn't an elite fighter, would get inside when gennady came towards him.
1) gennady came forward
2) Monroe would then either defend, smother, and get inside or he'd counter to get insideComment

He was in control for every second yet took a good deal of body and head shots. There was even a sequence where Monroe teed off on him.Lacked control? I don't know how big of a slob you must be to miss out on those details and consider that being in control of every second of the fight.
You need to raise your standards for ring generalship.Comment

I will tell you why: they obviously study each other. I don't put much stock into that sparring session - it has been a while and Canelo was green. But now GGG wants the fight and Canelo - not so much. This is your answer.I'm going with Canelo! Because I seen him demonstrate his skills vs far better competition compared to just fighting guys who are tailor made for him. Again GGG can be hit, he doesn't move his head much so hitting GGG will be a lot more easier than hitting Canelo based on their styles! Canelo does have enough Pop to do damage, not sure why people are thinking Canelo won't be able to hurt GGGComment

People's memories are truly short. Somehow everyone is assuming that:
-canelo can't stand and trade. He can. He's got excellent chin, good defense and will be heavier.
-canelo has no jab. He does. He just didn't show it against Khan.
-canelo's hooks to the body. Over the past few years, several well respected journalists, including the breadman have said that it's Golovkin who has the best hooks to the body. He's dropped multiple people with them, including lemieux and Murray.
-that Monroe was now winning. If you read the articles, Golovkin said that he was letting himself get hit. If you watch the fight again, you can clearly see that he completely drops his pressure and his hands are lower. Every fight recap mentioned that he dropped his hands in the 3rd. And despite all of this, he still won every round on the scorecards except for 1 judge who gave Monroe one round.Comment

Sometimes you invite shots to open a fighter up especially when you know he can't hurt you. The inside fighting was an investment. GGG broke him down in those rounds. Then when GGG wanted to finish it he went back to maintaining his distance and he finished him. When Monroe teed off on him, what happened to GGG? He put his head down to take shots on the top, then smiled at Monroe and motioned to him to bring it on. Is that what you mean by Monroe controlling the fight? If so, I disagree. Monroe was never in the fight. If Monroe was controlling the fight at one why'd he stop doing what was working for him?He was in control for every second yet took a good deal of body and head shots. There was even a sequence where Monroe teed off on him.
