I guess you're right. I had them mixed up. I guess it ended up being Canelo's sweet spot because he's in love with 155 now.

Just looked it up, it was in fact Canelo requesting the 156 catch weight.

I still think this was the plan all along.

Oscar and Canelo already planned to fight Cotto again some weeks ago.

Easiest payday for Canelo, basically no risk of losing and decent money.

That fight has been negotiated before Canelo fought Khan, in case he defeats Amir easily.

Canelo never wanted to face GGG and just hoped he could keep his belt for another Cotto fight, pay GGG some big bucks (million $?) to keep it a little longer, but GGG said either fight me or drop the belt.

Cotto himself said a week ago he has an opponent but cannot even tell Freddie Roach who it is.

According to Freddie Roach, trainer of former four division world champion Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33KOs), the Puerto Rican superstar is very close to revealing the

Mark my words, it will get announced.

... Whatever... Canelo doesn't have many "super fights" options ahead.
Cotto and Floyd maybe (if he wanted the "lineal belt", which I doubt). As Pacman is seeking Olympian immortality, I suspect.

Great. Now that he's even older and slower he might have a better shot to beat Canelo.

This is really the only thing that makes any sense for Canelo without looking super*****. It still looks ***** cuz he already beat Cotto, but if Cotto is out this year this would be the only time to rematch him which in theory still does decent numbers cuz Cotto still sells & perhaps Canelo has acquired some Mayweather-ish hater fans who will now be paying for his PPV's wishing to see him lose. But I'd speculate PPV #'s to go down after the GGG *****ifaction of Canelo. Its for sure not doing 900k again. It at best would be competitive with Khan #'s.
