I honestly had Cotto winning by a round but a draw or Canelo by one is easy to see.

It's weird, I think Canelo does everything right and is crazy talented but I had him losing Trout, Lara and Cotto. There's a reason Spence is only stepping up at 26 ,while Canelo at 25 is a veteran has taking all the hard fights.
you are entitled to your opinion and i respect that, i will have to rewatch the fight to point out the many power punches that canelo had, and some of them even had cotto froze when connected, it was easy to tell when canelo landed the meaningfull punches... i remember there was a webpage that actually had all of the important punches from both fighters on GIFS, they made it round by round and about 75% of the GIFS were canelos punches..
i will post it here if i can find it again

I agree he hurt him..as early as the first round... Still don't think that makes a difference in the should be outcome.

Oh of course and I don't doubt it has something to do with that Canelo pic in your sig and Cotto being one of my favorites. Either way I thought it was close.

Here is my opinion, and I went to the fight live at the Mandalay.

2 things factored big in Canelo looking like it was a lopsided win.

1st- Fans and HBO bias. Mexican fans out numbered PR fans 100-1 that night. It was crazy the amount of people in favor of Canelo that night, anything and everything Canelo landed was cheered for as if it was a KO punch. When I watched the replay after coming home a week later, I noticed that HBO gave no such credit to Cotto and basically gave Canelo the fight from the start of round 1.

2nd- Size with the eyeball test. Live Canelo look 180 and Cotto looked 150. Significant eye test, factored big time. I saw Cotto blocking alot of Canelos shots but live when he landed on Cottos gloves it moved Cotto, but did not land or effect him. Cotto landed easily and often but there was no movement Cotto landed when Canelo blocked them.

I saw the 7-5 Cotto, or even 8-4 after watching it a couple times on the Replay. When I watched it live with the crowd and clear size advantage for Canelo I saw it a 6-6 fight. The Crowd had me thinking twice especially when I could not see in some angles. But I did see Cotto Outboxing him as well.

A rematch would be similar but I would want Cotto to go to the Body alot more.

I agree with sunspace. But not by the wide margin. Cotto won 7-5 for certain, possibliy 8-4.

Cotto sweep first 6. Then canaelo turned it up. I think it was strategic on canelos part. I think he saved himself for the stretch. WE all know canelo had stamina issues and running out against cotto would havespelled doom. Cotto can certainly finish you if the opportunity presents itself. I think canelo won most but not all of the final 6 rounds. His activity increased significantly. Great fight terrible score cards...

I experienced the same thing at the canelo v trout fight. To date I have never experienced a crowd roar the way they did for canelo. I cant imagine it not effecting the judges at the very least subconsciously.

The more I watch this fight the better I think Cotto did. Canelo just had the more impressive shots. They were more eye catching. COtto boxed pretty well for the most part. His right hand just had no juice on it and Canelo took away his left hook. Most of the rounds were close, Canelo edged a lot of those close rounds. I thought it was 8-4 live. I can see 7-5 with replays. Don't see a Cotto win.

One thing I do think Cotto caught a lot more punches on the gloves than he gets credit for. So even though Canelo's punches sounded loud like thus and Cotto's didn't, I'm not sure a lot of them landed.
