What a load of crap! Game 6 Capitals/Flyers after a quick google check was a Noon Sunday game on NBC NOT prime time! And why are you comparing NBA games on TNT to boxing on FOX? TNT is cable, FOX is in wayyyy more homes. 1.9m viewers on Cable is good ratings. Reg season games on ABC prime time (not cable) early in the year got like 2.5m viewers. Expect triple that when they air the playoff games on ABC prime time. For example last year's NBA Finals drew over 13m viewers for the games.Ignorant comment. If boxing is dying, so are the NHL and NBA.
Here is the viewership for recent SERIES-CLINCHING playoff games:
Capitals/Flyers Game 6 on NBC: 1.2 final rating and 1.7 million viewers
Stars/Wild Game 6 on NBC: 1.0 rating and 1.5 million viewers
Penguins/Rangers Game 5: 1.0 and 1.6 million viewers (-11%).
Game 6 of Hawks/Celtics on TNT : 1.3 final rating and 1.9 million viewers
So basically a so-called "poor" boxing rating - featuring two guys who are not top stars - does similar ratings to NHL and NBA playoff games. Not bad for a dead sport.
And NHL playoffs just this sat prime time on NBC got 2.47m viewers more then 1mil more then PBC by the way and that game aired head to head with PBC so why you fishing for examples on different days and times? The week before the NHL playoffs on sat prime time got about 3.0m viewers basically DOUBLE what PBC got. And NHL is by far the weakest ratings performer of the major team sports in this country.
This is what I'm talking about the ratings are so damn bad that people try to stack the books in favor of PBC by twisting and trying to compare them to HBO which is in 1/3 of the amount of homes or cable or Noon time (one of the worst ratings time of the entire day) to these PBC ratings on NETWORK prime time. SMH If this PBC fight was on Sunday Noon instead of sat prime time then it get's LESS then half these ratings. Don't believe me? Go look up the now EXTINCT PBC on CBS noon/afternoon card ratings from last year. They were so damn bad that you haven't seen a PBC card on CBS in what 8 months? They canceled the sunday afternoon series because the ratings were in the toilet. And the next fight that will be on CBS will NOT be produced by PBC instead it will be a Showtime Sports produced fight on CBS.
These ratings are bad and no amount of sugar coating it or comparing it stations that are not even in competition with FOX or looking for programming that was not in prime time don't make it any better. For context last week FOX had no new programming so they ran a rerun of some crappy TV show called American Grit Sat night prime time and that got 1.3m viewers. Basically almost matching what PBC did in ratings without even trying and running reruns at a fraction of the cost that PBC paid to produce their card on sat.Last edited by bigdunny1; 05-02-2016, 02:07 PM.Comment

The revenue models for those sports are completely different than boxing. I have no clue why you're mentioning them.Ignorant comment. If boxing is dying, so are the NHL and NBA.

Your point was that no one watches boxing. Actually, you said, "no one watches it right now. curling does better numbers than boxing which is very sad. even professional bowling does bigger numbers than boxing."
You said nothing about revenues or revenue models. You only mentioned viewership.
So it's very clear why I mentioned the viewership of other sports. If you're claiming that "no one" watches boxing, then when "no one" is watching NHL and NBA either, since they often generate similar numbers.Comment

Actually someone else said all that. You're grasping at straws with these ratings.Your point was that no one watches boxing. Actually, you said, "no one watches it right now. curling does better numbers than boxing which is very sad. even professional bowling does bigger numbers than boxing."

So much information I don't know where to begin. What a load of crap! Game 6 Capitals/Flyers after a quick google check was a Noon Sunday game on NBC NOT prime time! First of all, last Saturday's PBC on Fox did not air in prime time. 5-7pm PT on Saturday is not prime time, so your comparisons to prime time sporting events (which typically start at 7:30pm PT) is misplaced. So are your comparisons to non-sports prime time programming.
PBC cards on CBS did almost exactly the same as college basketball on CBS. If those viewership numbers are "bad" for boxing, then they have to be considered "bad" for college basketball too. CBS was doing better with afternoon boxing than any of the other networks. CBS didn't "cancel"; the network can't cancel time buys. PBC changed strategies and moved away from afternoon cards - across the board, not just CBS.
To me, the main question is whether it's good or bad for the sport. And to me it's not bad that 2 million people or more (once final numbers come in) saw Ortiz-Berto 2 and Williams-Rodriguez.
I couldn't care less if PBC's financial model works, any more than I care if Just For Men got their money's worth on Friday Night Fights or if Kia generates a good ROI on those ****** NBA Kia commercials.Comment

They don't. LMAO You can go and try and grab the low water mark for both NBA and NHL hell even find a preseason game played in china at 2am on NBCSN or TNT still doesn't change the fact that when either the NBA or NHL is on NETWORK tv (NBC or ABC) on Sat prime time just like PBC was on they literally do 2-5X the ratings. The fact that you are even comparing it to cable and Noon time games on Sun instead of the very obvious examples like this Saturday's NBC NHL game that went head to head with FOX's PBC card just makes you look foolish. You are cherry picking bad examples to try and sugar coat how bad PBC did. SMHYour point was that no one watches boxing. Actually, you said, "no one watches it right now. curling does better numbers than boxing which is very sad. even professional bowling does bigger numbers than boxing."

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/201...april-30-2016/
It's on the prime time charts that are released EVERY Sunday. No clue why you think it's not prime time but again click on the link it was prime time. Second call it "PBC changed strategies and moved away from afternoon cards" I call it they cancelled afternoon cards on CBS and NBC because the ratings were in the toilet. And the ratings were as much as just like College Basketball as these PBC ratings this weekend are just like NHL and NBA ratings LMAOLast edited by bigdunny1; 05-02-2016, 03:44 PM.Comment

FOX is in wayyyyy more homes than TNT???? You must have a unique definition of "wayyyy more," since TNT has 91% as many as households as FOX.
Considering TNT is in over 100 million households (http://www.twcmedia.com/TWC/CT/Network.aspx?id=315, and considering there are only about 110 million TV households in the U.S., the difference between FOX's potential audience and TNT's potential audience is only about 10 million households.
Put more simply, FOX's viewership would be expected to be about 10% higher than TNT's, because FOX has a 10% larger viewer base.Comment
