They recognize that they need to build Canelo's strength and power as he settles in before he steps in against an experienced, strong mw like GGG. This fight will happen next year and it'll be a very formidable Canelo who steps in the ring. But Canelo has most of the tools needed for this fight already. He's a very patient fighter and sets up his punches nicely. Most important, he goes to the body very well.
GGG is an excellent offensive machine. Decent jab, great combinations also an excellent body puncher. Murderous power obviously. But he reminds me of Kostya Tszyu in two ways...he believes in his offense almost to a fault and his in-fighting isn't as refined when the other person knows what they're doing. I'm not entirely convinced he can go a full 12 rounds in a tough fight without fading either. And finally, he's showing his age IMO. I think you guys might be surprised how close this fight is.
Getting back to Tszyu, the comparison is unfair because Kostya had the ability to box off his back foot and that's what made him such a great fighter. If Canelo is able to survive the early onslaught, I believe GGG has got a long night ahead of him. Canelo is a very, very accurate and patient fighter. His stamina has improved as well. It's a toss-up heading into the latter rounds but I wouldn't be surprised if the senior man looks like a senior citizen in those stanzas and only an idiot would completely discount Canelo. Really, I could go on (breaking down what I've seen in GGG's last 3-4 fights--not much since most of those guys were horrific) but I think you get the point.

Cotto landed numerous body shots;but due to the disparity in weight, they had little effect. I can verry well see golovkin establishing the jab within the first 4 rounds, walking canelo down, backing him up to the ropes, and delivering deadly shots to the head and body. I really don't think that canelo has the power to make golovkin back off,and that would be canelos downfall. Golovkin rips through full grown middleweights with ease, and canelo would be no different. This is all on top of the fact that canelo likes to fight for half of rounds, and takes long breaks between periods of activity, mostly due to his questionable stamina. Taking parts of a round off against golovkin is basically asking to be hit with a bomb. As the fight wears on,I actually see golovkin applying more and more pressure,as canelo shells up and has no response for what's coming his way.
Yeah, I've seen GGG rip through middleweights but none that impressed me. They all ****** and he did what he had to with the punching bags put in front of him.I keep thinking about Tszyu-Phillips. I'm curious to see how he reacts to a skilled, intelligent fighter with a plan. Anyway, yeah I still lean toward GGG but I can see how Canelo wins and I think he'll have a great shot when these two square off next year.

None are ATGs but there are a few decent operators. You haters drink just as much cool aid as the stans.
But please, feel free to keep trying to appear impartial.

This idea that he won't fight Golovkin is nonsense. When he decides it's time to fully move to 160, he'll fight guys at 160.Originally posted by IMDAZED View PostWhat happened is that you can't comprehend squat and, like so many others, turn into desperately seeking Susan when it comes to defending GGG.
I said 'I think Canelo can beat him."
But see, your head is so far up your ass (calling me a Ward fan, etc.) that you read what you wanted and then ran with it. You guys are so funny to me
I'm not convinced Canelo can beat him but he's improving.
Are these contradictory statements or not?

Getting beaten up and knocked out is a different matter. That's the risk Golovkin brings.

But there is no way Canelo fights anyone at 160, maybe he might move up to 157, max but I doubt even that. The GGG fight will not happen at 155 unless G is offered some serious money and PPV options.
So the WBC will just milk Canelo as their champion with 155 defense after 155 defense.

Canelo knows he has a brand to protect and getting KOd inside 8 rounds won't help that.
As it is despite his resume, he's extremely hated, if he doesn't take the fight many will turn on him.
