Golden Boy has done a great job making B level fighters look like threats to. Canelo. Canelo is getting way too much respect for Trout and Lara who aren't any better than Geale and Lemule.

I don't care about odds because GGG is simply better than Canelo so even when fight similar level fighters, he's going to be more favored than Canelo fighting the same level of competition.

I mean Lara isn't some monster, you fell for the hype but how is the guy that was out hustled by Molina a boogie man. And let's not forget Lara was coming off a war with mediocre at best Angulo. Lara is supposedly a master boxer but even Cintron was able to outbox Angulo more effectively.

But there is no way Canelo fights anyone at 160, maybe he might move up to 157, max but I doubt even that. The GGG fight will not happen at 155 unless G is offered some serious money and PPV options.

So the WBC will just milk Canelo as their champion with 155 defense after 155 defense.
      I hope not.

I'm obviously a Canelo fan, but I still see no reason for him to hold that belt. He doesn't need it, he doesn't fight at the weight in which the belts belongs and he won it from a non-middleweight. I wanted him to vacate the belt immediately after the Cotto fight.

Canelo is one of those fighters that is bigger than a belt. It really doesn't matter if he's in a title fight or non-title fight, it will still be just as big. I'd prefer him to clean out 154.

Look, I like Canelo too and I'm with you, he should just fight at 154. There are so many good fights to be made right now. Problem is, he is a pampered lil boy who doesn't want to lose an extra pound. And he powers that be have created a environment in which he can label himself a champ at 155lb, whatever that means.

Guys like Canelo will only learn years down the line when their legacy is not what it could have been.

I doubt it. He will stay insanely popular in the Mexican and Mex-American communities as long as he doesn't get whooped badly. They will support him no matter what.

I agree to a certain extent. Trout, outside of the Cotto win, hasn't done much but Lara, from a skills point of view, is baove Lem and Murray and Macklin etc. But he did, as you say, have some tough nights and never looked like a master boxer, which is what I kept saying in the build up to their fight.

When you get tagged continuously by the slowest fighter at 154, then you're in trouble. Sad thing is, the boxing media and certain fans have been trying to make Lara out to be a killer since the Williams fight but he just ain't that good.

Ok, let's put it up to a basic, english poll.

              Who on here think stating:

I think Canelo can beat GGG

I'm not convinced Canelo can beat him

              is contradictory?

Have at it guys. Don't hurt dazed feelings too much, he lacks education.

GGG has looked just as good against the best his division has to offer, to such an extent that Cotto said he wouldn't fight him. Now it's Canelos turn.
Canelo comes into the ring at a higher weight than Golovkin. What are you talking about?

There is a difference between rehydration/fluid weight and muscle/fat. GGG is used to stepping onto the scales, all 5'10'', at or near a 160lb of muscle and fat.

Canelo, who is 5'7'' (boxrec updated him a few years back, to 5'9'' which is a plain lie as he looks shorter than even Khan), steps onto the scales at 155lb of muscle and fat. He can rehydrate to whatever he wants but he will not match GGGs natural size advantage at middleweight.

Canelo will look stronger and more than well built at middleweight, its the difference in skill and power that will do him in.
