Canelo don't have a great deal of big money options despite being a big star, Cotto rematch I guess but he seems to want to fight Marquez. Other than that, there's Lemieux who can't make 155 without dying, fighting him or anyone else at 160 other than Golovkin would just go against everything they said about 'im not a middleweight'. Then 154 guys like Charlo, Andrade, Lara 2 etc are not huge fights.

Canelo-Golovkin is the biggest fight in boxing between active fighters imo, Canelo has too much pride to avoid Golovkin.
theres nothing clear about fear of losing

By idiotic fanboys yes but not by boxing fans. I put Canelo as the favourite to beat Lara and said Canelo would have more dog in him, i.e. he is the one more willing to dig deep and win. That's what happened.

Neither Trout nor Lara were punchers though and if a fight goes on the card, Canelo going to get a win.

      Not just by idiotic fanboys.

It was pretty heavily stated that Canelo would avoid both of those fights for stylistic reasons (Lara in particular), in both cases he took the fights and won the fights.

Nothing has changed; Canelo will not be fighting at the 160 limit and Golovkin doesn't want to meet below 160. Stalemate.

I'm not convinced Canelo can beat him but he's improving. I don't think they're scared at all. They recognize that they need to build Canelo's strength and power as he settles in before he steps in against an experienced, strong mw like GGG. This fight will happen next year and it'll be a very formidable Canelo who steps in the ring. But Canelo has most of the tools needed for this fight already. He's a very patient fighter and sets up his punches nicely. Most important, he goes to the body very well.

GGG is an excellent offensive machine. Decent jab, great combinations also an excellent body puncher. Murderous power obviously. But he reminds me of Kostya Tszyu in two ways...he believes in his offense almost to a fault and his in-fighting isn't as refined when the other person knows what they're doing. I'm not entirely convinced he can go a full 12 rounds in a tough fight without fading either. And finally, he's showing his age IMO. I think you guys might be surprised how close this fight is.

Getting back to Tszyu, the comparison is unfair because Kostya had the ability to box off his back foot and that's what made him such a great fighter. If Canelo is able to survive the early onslaught, I believe GGG has got a long night ahead of him. Canelo is a very, very accurate and patient fighter. His stamina has improved as well. It's a toss-up heading into the latter rounds but I wouldn't be surprised if the senior man looks like a senior citizen in those stanzas and only an idiot would completely discount Canelo. Really, I could go on (breaking down what I've seen in GGG's last 3-4 fights--not much since most of those guys were horrific) but I think you get the point.

Yes but again, it's people who don't follow boxing. How could anyone who actually takes an interest in the sport think the Lara fight would not happen after Lara "interrupting" the presser, it was clearly staged to create interest in a fighter and a fighter that only the hardcore cared about.

Lara was a completely different proposition to Golovkin. Losing a narrow decision against a fighter who won't engage is not going to damage your image in the Mexican fanbase.

Getting beaten up and knocked out is a different matter. That's the risk Golovkin brings.

What happened is that you can't comprehend squat and, like so many others, turn into desperately seeking Susan when it comes to defending GGG.

I said 'I think Canelo can beat him."

But see, your head is so far up your ass (calling me a Ward fan, etc.) that you read what you wanted and then ran with it. You guys are so funny to me

I don't think that's true at all. If negotiations are going to happen then each of those 5 lbs can be bought or sold by either side. They are not going to give them up for free beforehand.

We're talking long before Lara jumped on the ring, even afterwards people thought he was trying to get a fight but wouldn't. Both he and Trout were seen as fights that Canelo would stay away from due to their style, both times he fought.

This idea that he won't fight Golovkin is nonsense. When he decides it's time to fully move to 160, he'll fight guys at 160.
