What bugs me about this, is HBO is willing to shell out 2.5 million for this fight, but was not willing to pay half of that for Loma vs Walters.


I understand that GGG is a hot commodity, but the winner of Walters vs Loma would have been also.

That's a lot of money for someone of Wade's status (sacrificial lamb). Kinda off topic but I can see why Walters would want more money if he's aware of what HBO is contributing to the budget of other events...

Should clarify for some folks, that's the reported purse per the commission. It's not necessarily the amount of cash HBO's putting up for the fight. They sold nearly 16,000 tickets, that's around a million dollar gate. Additionally, Golovkin has numerous international tv deals and sponsors. Those may or may not be included the reported purse (generally not in order to save and city, state, and federal taxes as well as belt fee's).
