I can see Alvarez vs Cotto 2 in September. From what i'm seeing that's what its pointing too. Cotto just stopped negotiating fights with the claim "can't find an opponent of their liking". Now everything depends on what the WBC decides to do.

Promoter Oscar De La Hoya says he's not entirely on board with the WBC's mandate that Canelo Alvarez face Gennady Golovkin next should both men win their next respective bouts. In fact, he's just stated that a rematch with Miguel Cotto may be another route for them to take. So that's just about as close as we're going to get to De La Hoya just flat out saying he doesn't want to risk his cash cow to the monster that is GGG in the near future.

I think Oscar has only one fighter??? He needs to put on those fishnets and start hitting the streets for more.

He has Luis Ortiz too. I think he might be the best HW in the division. He needs to push Ortiz more. Ortiz should be fighting at least 3 -4 times a year. The heavyweight division is heating up and Oscar has one of the best.

Yeah I agree. I seen a recent interview Canelo did in Spanish and they asked him about GGG he looked PISSED and you could tell he doesn't like the 155 BS. Oscar and his trainer the entire time watched him like a HAWK. Not one time did he bring up 155. He said he wants to fight GGG and then his trainer stepped in started talking for him. You could tell Oscar and his trainer were afraid he would say something stupid...

Canelo walked away once the trainer butted in and you could tell Canelo was PISSED!!!

This is ALL Oscar. I truly believe if you get him away from Oscar and his trainer he would say FK it bring GGG on at any weight!! I'll try send link to interview but watch the eyes and BODY language of All Three whenbibdo later.

Most fighters don't worry about weight when it comes to MONEY!!! Most of the GREAT ONES see an opportunity to make a lot of money, they don't mind going up a division or down a division, or even dropping a few pounds in their own division! If you're ranked high @ 154, and Canelo wants a fight @ 155, most fighters will say "let's do it!" Men talk, women talk, but numbers never lie! Scared money, don't make money B*TCH!

Excuse? Why aren't they coming? He's the champ. Everybody has dreams of beating the champ to become the champ themselves, so why aren't they coming for him? You know damn well why, but you've decided to spin it like it's somehow GGG's fault. He's supposed to either drain himself to be weak or build himself up to fight someone naturally bigger than him to make you & other haters happy? FOH.

May and Pac moved up 5 and 7 divisions respectively to get the big fights, so yes, he should build himself up to fight bigger guys. All the other greats did it, Oscar moved up six, Bernard Hopkins moved up two freakin divisions, from middleweight to light heavy, Pernell Whitaker hell even Broner is a four division champ.

Why should your man be exempt from that standard? Is it perhaps because deep down you know he aint good enough to do it?

Canelo sold out the stadium in Houston for Kirkland, even without Ann Wolfe! The problem is Canelo will get 750K to 1MIL PPVs fighting Khan, while GGG is fighting Wade on HBO Championship Boxing. So Oscar is going to use that leverage to get GGG to 155. What does GGG do? Take it or Leave it?

Who are these 168 or even 160 lbers who are willing to fight Canelo at 155? Stop talking bull**** here. 168lbers don't even mention the irrelevant Canelo and both Saunders and Lemioux said that they will never drain themselves to Caneloweight. That's three well known, highly ranked middleweights already who have boycotted Caneloweight when you include GGG.

The Caneloweight division is great news for SWWs.

They can now fight other SWWs for world titles at MW while weighing in just 1lb heavier than usual. For most of them, the extra lb leeway on weight is a bonus, not a handicap!

Different story for a natural MW though. He has the same job making 160 as a SWW has making 154.

Asking him to cut another 5lbs on top of that in no way compares to giving a SWW a pound leeway on his usual weight.

And if you want to bring it all down to money ... sure, Canelo at 155 would be a big payday for Golovkin. But if he accepted it, came in drained and lost his titles, that's 3/4 years of future big paydays, maybe even bigger than Canelo, flushed down the drain.

Canelo is young enough to take a gamble on weight, by fighting GGG at the sanctioned MW limit, and come back again if it goes wrong.

If GGG takes that gamble and it doesn't work out, he's never going to get back to where he is now. At 34 yo, he has one chance and one chance only to really make it big.
