In my opinion, GGG wants a big fight to make a ton of money and that's it. He could have gone to 168 and fought Andre Ward or accepted a fight with Lara ( someone who beat Canelo but was robbed by the judges). Both Ward and Lara are bigger names than anyone he has fought so far.
Per Mayweather, GGG has no special effects, he is straight up and down.

... after the WBC hands Golovkin their 160 belt, the WBA (in their push towards consolidating their champions) will likely mandate Golovkin to fight Daniel Jacobs, another fight in a long string of fights that the boxing public seems happy to give Golovkin a pass on.

In Jacobs, Golovkin would face a 29 year old, big framed (6'1"), fast-twitch middleweight, relatively proven at the weight class, switch hitter, with pop in both hands.

Hilraious to see folks continue to act like there's no one their for Golovkin to fight (Erroll Spence Jr is just breaking into the top crust of fighters at 147, yet this author is already trying to project him up a full two weight classes, lol)

He really didn't, he stated that a Spence fight may never happen, but with Gennady's future uncertain, and little/no real fights on the horizon, that people may wonder.

I agree that Jacobs could be his best opponent, but they would take that fight in a heartbeat imho.

NOT a huge Golovkin fan, so I'm not defending him at all, I just think they would take that fight if it presented itself.

Golovkin is only taking the fights that suit him, no question, the writer even alluded to that...... but I don't see Jacobs as a guy they need to avoid.

Spence is a big welterweight who could easy travel beyond 154...2 fights ago he weighed over 156lb would you believe ...I wouldn't fancy canelo getting in the ring with this kid....he's quick has power and he has that nasty streak you need to become that bit more special....canelo is being protected and will lose as soon as he actually fights a live wire...spence would beat him and so will golovkin

And, Spence can jump a division and beat Canelo now, after beating Algieri?
