The Judah fight is definitely in the middle of his prime. The balance he had of everything was phenomenal. Such a great chess-match of a fight earlier on.

Same with Pacquiao, it may have been 140. Coincidentally they both practically skipped it because the money wasn't there.

Intellectually, definitely the later years. Physically, the early to middle years.

This what makes his story an interesting one. Cerebral fighters often continue to get better even in their later years.

Early on he was better physically because he packed bigger punch at 130

He's not been prime since he unretired imo. Started around 98/99.

The Floyd Mayweather that fought Oscar/Hatton was Floyd at his last peak; coming back for Marquez, Floyd was still about at his best, but he was starting to do things differently at that point.

From Floyd's debut at 140 through the Hatton fight, Floyd was the "best Floyd he could be" (still had the physicality of of his youth, balanced against the wisdom picked up by fighting a decade against the cream of the sport)

I think Mayweather's last true prime fights were Ortiz and Cotto. I'm pretty sure he was juicing heavily for the Ortiz fight because his speed, reflexes, power, and aggressiveness looked amazing. Either he was on steroids or on his a game for those fights.

I'd say the Hatton fight he remained effective after this though

I think Floyd's prime was 2004-2010/11. His absolute peak was probably 2006-2007. It's sad we never got to see the Kostya, Williams, Marg, Cotto and Pacquiao fights when they mattered though and that will always irk me.

It was still impressive when he beat Oscar (close fight) and the way he adjusted in the second half v both Judah and Hatton, as well as the pressure he put on Mosley after almost getting KD.

I think he fell out of his competitive prime after Ortiz. Once his leaping hook started to look poor i knew he was slowing down. Once his pull counter started to look like a telegraphed punch i knew it was done. So i'd say like after Ortiz.
