I never asked how. If you're not a short (I'm 5'6") than you wouldn't know difficult it is to catch 5'11" runner. And by runner I don't mean boxer, I mean a guy not looking to engage. Algieri at times wasn't looking to engage and the naturally smaller Pac couldn't force him too.

But let say you do cut them off, you still need to be able to hold them there. It's easy when fighting a guy my size. But sparring 15 pound heavier guys it's not as easy. You end up wasting a lot of energy just to be clinched by a naturally larger fighter. Maybe I'm not articulating it well enough for some of you.

The problem is many posters are confusing height for weight. Comparing Manny to Dwight Muhammad and Frazier is idiotic. They have different builds and process much more upper strength. Guys built like tanks with thick legs and wide frames to carry weight.

But I stick to my point, you can't be a fighter on the level of Manny and never learn fundamentals and how to cut the ring off. It's a silly thing to say.

It's like saying a world class fighter who doesn't use the jab often never learned how to do it. It obviously did but it's not a weapon he uses constantly.

If I taught my arse how to talk it'd sound like you.

      • Like I've stated in another thread, it depends also on the determination of the opponent to save his ass from getting KTFO. What I want to know is where in the fight did Algieri run that required Spence to cut off the ring? Can you show an instance where Spence cut off the ring?

          • which fights were pac not able to cut off the ring?
mosley? cotto? those guys ran for their life, no matter how much cutting off the ring you do would look futile especially if you're trying to load up on your punches at the same time.

Well thats the first issue there, you dont load up on your punches while cutting off the ring. You step over and set your shots up,instead of making all of these excuses just admit it was a flaw a great fighter had, hell they all have flaws. But the more excuses yall make the more lack of boxing knowledge ya'll expose.

yeah but ran they did, all night. mosley, and cotto in the later rounds, were more afraid of pac than floyd, they 'literally' ran for their lives.

If you know how to cut a ring off, there is only so much your opponent can run..you make the space smaller and smaller..and i dont even know why you mentioned Floyd at all he has 0 to do with this.

Cotto literally ran from Margarito aswell but he had nowhere to run to because Margarito cuts the ring off very well

and pac made mincemeat of cotto as well and got TKO'd. there goes your didn't cut off the ring theory.

with mosley, that guy literally ran the whole night after that KD, didn't even bother to put up a fight.

The boxing experts here think it's easy to cut the ring off on negative fighters due to their vast experience. But somehow one of the best fighters ever never learned how do so.
