The language I keep hearing is that the winner of the Canelo/Khan fight must agree to defend against the mandatory.
I hear zero about what form that defense must take.
So what happens if Canelo beats Khan and says "I will defend my title and it will be at a catchweight just like this defense was"
What happens if Canelo starts talking about the numerous times the WBC and other sanctioning bodies allowed catchweights?
Can anyone tell me what makes THIS mandatory so different from those fights?
If not, if you can't say anything but "they have it in writing", then I'd say you are depending an awful lot on a piece of paper the WBC purposely left a lot of loopholes in.Comment

Well, the problem is the guy has been shooting off his mouth about fighting anyone in four weight classes for years.
He is still yapping about 154 with Floyd.
Forget what you might think happens in a perfect world.
What do you think the WBC is going to do when choosing between a guy that couldnt break 100k PPV buys and one that almost did 1M buys their last fights?Comment

If they don't blatantly dis the mandatory, they'll use BS.
Like "stripping" Saul of the belt he has by elevating him to "Super Emeritus Champion"
He'll still be the lineal in the middle of June, bank on it.Comment

Pretty much!!! Do you think GGG sticking to 160 ONLY is in hopes it goes to a bid??? And then gets at least 55/45??? I do but GB is going to do the same thing Kathy Duva did against Adonis. There NEVER gonna let it even go to a bid. I hope Team GGG isn't banking on that? Man this Gamble is gonna cost him a LOT of FKN $$$$$$$$$$$$. And he's on the WRONG side of the gamble. Canelo don't give a sht about Belts or Lara wouldn't still have his...Comment

Sure, diamond champ, whatever. You'd hope all the independent rankings would strip him like the Ring stripped AduckisComment

Or better yet??? Someone like Floyd offers a shty Mandatory an AWESOME 70-30 split??? And the Mandatory REFUSES so it goes to a bid of 55/45 split not giving a sht about network, site, anything else but the money??? Does that go to a bid still??? And if Floyd REFUSES to pay say Berto (If he was a mandatory, whicih he was not) that much. Does he REALLY lose his belt???Comment

The 97k guy claims Canelo only did 600k with A sider Cotto. Either way sanctioning fees are 300k max, they've been sued for 30m before for breach of contract and lostComment
