I'm not surprised. The UFC has built a machine. We (boxing fans) just gotta keep supporting the sport and tuning in to fights. People know what UFC is. Ask the average casual sports fan what is UFC and they say it's MMA. That's how well UFC has built their brand. It's like people calling a copy of something a Xerox. MMA is UFC to most casual observers.

At least most People can name Boxing Champions. Can't say the same thing about UFC who has a different champion every other week...I don't think I've EVER seen a guy come in as a replacement with a few days of training and BEAT the Champ. That just doesn't happen in boxing. Look at Ronda??? She looked like a damn charging bull in her fight. Looked like a complete amateur.

1.2 is not actually a bad springboard for a prospect in the usual context of boxing viewership. it was a good performance too so you'd have to assume that most of them would be willing to watch him again, and probably even seek out his fights on other channels

It's a huge difference between 1.2 on HBO vs NBC primetime

i know but the raw numbers are still significant if he can get his viewers motivated to actually look him up and keep track

They care. Just fed up from:

1. Too Many Alphabet Soup Belts
2. Shty piss poor Mandatories (Like Dominic Wade I can name at LEAST 13 better MW then him)
3. Lack of action
4. No structure
5. Bad decisions
6. Corruption

I go to bars during UFC fights and these are the 4 biggest criticisms I hear about boxing. They love the sport and wish more elite boxers would transition over.

I added my two WORST. I can't even watch boxing at bars most of the time. Most don't have HBO or Showtime. And they RARELY have PPV fights anymore.

Those are pretty good numbers for an unknown spence. The ufc if anything probably did lower ratings than it should have.

Just asking because I go to this bar for fights and McGregor vs Diaz was a packed house while Pac vs Bradley was like 12 people there.

great question. Honestly we never got that deep in the conversation to really break it down. I suspect its probably a little bit of both.......
