I absolutely love Spence, but why the double standard?

Spence looked sensational in dispatching Chris. Used an array of punches, fought outside, fought inside, went upstairs, went downstairs, he was really impressive. Now people are ready to crown him, including myself. I have an old thread calling him the future of the sport.

But here is the double standard. GGG has been looking sensational for the last few years in dispatching opponents. Fighting from the outside, inside, going upstairs, going downstairs, cutting off the ring, using array of punches but yet people say GGG is a hype job, over rated, he is nothing but Kelly Pavlik or Arthur Abraham.

I don't get it? Help me understand the logic?

Most of the posters on here are American and many of them are African American so they will get behind their boy.

Having said that, Spence is very upright and is there to be hit. Don't crown him just yet.

My logic is they both ain't sh#t. So, no double standard here.

One guys best win is Algieri. The others is Lemiuex. Run around saying that to people. They'll say "who......?"

Who ever is putting stock especially into the Algieri win is setting themselves up for life changing disappointment with Spence. Just wait til they put a puncher in front of that kid, he's getting his ass handed to him. Possibly stopped.

      I won't even speak on Lil C(ontradiction)

But they are both in the same league. Prospect league.

GGG is a 34 year old, 10 year veteran, whose best win is Algieri-esque.

You think they are in the same situation?

Well spence just entered the stage and beat his best opponent to date. Golovkin was at this point about two years and has stagnated. People are sick of it and want to see him against better guys. If spence just keeps beating up guys he's clearly better than instead of taking on top 3 guys, people will start calling him a hype job as well.

Errol Spence has not been called out by hardly anybody. He's LOOKING for fights.

GGG has been called out by Ward repeatedly. Duck.
GGG calls out Floyd despite Floyd not fighting in the same weight range. Joke.
GGG turns down fights that don't make him enough money. That's fine if you're Floyd already making big bucks. He hasn't made a name for himself.

Meanwhile, Spence literally faces whoever is willing to get in front of him.

I said it before. Golovkin needs to open up. He needs to be willing to face threats. Face Canelo at Caneloweight. Call out Eubank Jr. under his conditions. Call out Saunders under his conditions. Do whatever you've got to do to get your name on the big stage.

Spence has to do the same thing, mind you, but he doesn't have to try as hard because he's already put out there that he'll fight anyone in front of him.

To be honest with you I haven't seen any hype with spence, this is the first time am seeing him fight. Yes I heard rumours with sparring etc but so far the hype isn't over the top.

Nobody is crowning him. I see he's got talent an am.excited to see him with the other welters and possibly super welters or junior welters. GGG is 34 and has a prospect's resume.

Since most people here think I'm a ggg hater I'll answer. There is no doubt that GGG is a special fighter. The difference is Spence is 26 and GGG is 34. Spence has a good 10 years left in the sport to fight the best, win belts, and even unify a division if he chooses to. GGG doesn't have that luxury. He has to fight the best ASAP. And his team needs to stop turning down good fights because of "marketability". They need to go aggressively after good fights and abandon that unify plan. Unification keeps him fighting guys like Wade. GGG doesn't have the time for that. I just saw an interview with Loeffler and he was asked about Lara. He said Lara's people haven't contacted him. Why is he waiting on Lara's people to contact him? GGG is the A-side he picks who he fights. Tom acts like he can't multi-task. He should be talking to Haymon about Lara/Jacobs/DeGale/Quillin/ hell, even Khan. If he and Canelo don't fight next, Heiland is not an acceptable choice. He has to get a real challenger. And Ramirez isn't an acceptable choice either. Time is not on his side. That's why there's a double standard. We all know that Spence is gonna have a great resume by the time he reaches GGG's age.

Who all has GGG turned down? Ward was calling him out when he was in a legal dispute and wasn't fighting and Saunders didn't want to fight GGG.
