I think it's cause that's the core boxing constituency in that US.

Anyone with common sense can see that the U.S. boxing scene is a tale of ethnic groups striving to escape poverty. From Irish, the Italians, the ***s, the Pols, the Blacks, the Latinos, and now you see the Euro explosion coming out of Brooklyn, etc. Immigrants come to these shores, and they fight they're way to the top! That's what makes this country great! We (those of African and Hispanic descent) still have our glory days! just look at 140-160. You can't ignore the presence! If not for the emergence of the NBA and the NFL, who do you think would be dominating the heavyweight division? If that young brother that's 6'4 240, with the 35" vertical and 4.5 40yd-dash, wasn't chasing quarterbacks since he was 12, and was in the boxing gyms, the game would look much more like 1970s! If baseball made less money than boxing, you would see an even greater Latino Explosion in the U.S. It is what it is!

Had he kept it to disrespecting "US boxers" then I would have just chopped it up to national pride. However, he narrowed his disrespect to "US boxers of African or Hispanic descent."
