No one smiles for 2 hours straight unless they're at Disneyland and being in a crowded venue with people constantly bugging you isn't continually a fun thing.

Hearing him being down to earth means he's not overlooking Ward. He's going to realize the threat and muster up all he has. An over-confident Kovalev would play into Ward's hands. However, a serious and cautious Kovalev is going to be at his best. Compared to his other opponents, he's going to be going up 2 or 3 levels in competition when he fights Ward.
I ate mushrooms once when I was 20years old and I couldnt stop smiling for at least 5hrs. Maybe Kovalev was trippin... lol! jk! But yeah, Ward taking tune-ups and Kovalev showing some humbleness shows that each guy knows what a threat each other are and how big this fight is.

Very recent I believe at the Pac fight. Looks like there both taking intermediate fights

This isn't a surprise, after the Barrera fight he expressed some uncertainty about winning. Of the two Ward seems generally more confident about winning, but I'm sure he acknowledges the magnitude of this risk as well.

I saw this before the pac fight, so it's probably 1-2 weeks old.

Nice to see two elite fighters show respect. A far cry from how Kovalev views Stevenson.

This is standard Kovalev, he said the same in an interview prior to Pascal 2.

His attitude is that you just don't know what is going to happen in the ring, he views it as a street fight.

No he didn't. He didn't show anywhere near the same respect for Pascal.

Good to hear some sense of honesty in fighters. Unlike others. They drop big names and drop tons of roadblocks at the same time, or show little effort to make such fights happen.

Well, yeah, he simply doesn't like or respect Pascal. But Kovalev has always made statements about being uncertain about anything in the ring. It is a standard quote from him.
