Well that's the problem - he gets over a million to fight crappy opponents so now that he has a good opponent in front of him he wants a significant pay increase, but it's not like Postol is some huge name that would warrant a $2m+ payday.

I understand that but why jump into a contract without weighing options. Pac wins and Crawford will probably get can take until November off and get a nice payday. Postol will always be there. Its just business. Im sure if Bradley wins negotiations will get serious for postol.

Doesn't matter if you made $10M for your last fight.

For the most part I don't think most boxing fans even know what any particular boxer is usually getting paid or how the fighters people, the promoter & the network come up with those figures. Hell as a guy who enjoys discussing & hearing about the business side of boxing I find it hard to fully grasp all the factors in play that decides a fighters going rate to get into the ring.
When companies are struggling they make cuts within the Company, they don't cut their top Workers "Pay". So for Top Rank if you want to make cuts, trim down your roster and make cuts at the Top Rank Office to make sure your fighters are taken care of. Fighters are only paid when they fight anyway it is not like they're on the payroll year around.

As for HBO, cut that **** Show The Fight Game, cut out the 24/7 and all that other unnecessary stuff that nobody watch that they use money for to produce and Pay The Fighters Just Saying!

If this was happening on the PBC side, you clowns would be blaming Haymon for paying out high purses to slay bums, but it's happening in the other side so you blame the fighter. Have you submitted your resume to UCN yet?

From my understanding 24/7 costs are passed onto the promoter. They either pay for it up front or the $1.5M-ish production costs get taken off the top of the gross promoter PPV cut.

And is the Fight Game taking away from the boxing budget? I never really thought about that, but I guess it could be. I just assumed that was a different entity that just so happened to be on HBO being hosted by a HBO Boxing guy.

As for making cuts I can't imagine laying off a few ~$75,000 a year TR employees is gonna make much of an impact with these million $ purses.

They do if they are not doing their job. You're a fighter then fight, or else don't complain you are not getting paid. All the other sports the best go against the best. Do your job Crawford.

How long would Arum be able to protect these hypejobs? Look at who he fought compared to Postol. Arum gave him Dierry Jean and Lundy, and Postol got Matthysse. Crawford vs Matthysse would have been the better draw.
that is 2 cases of the much "superior" black fighters cowering in a corner against inferior white fighters. GGG has the same problem

Someone earlier today made a thread about Broner and said that he was the epitome of what's wrong with modern boxing: too much money and too much hype.

I responded by agreeing and stating some fighters, such as TC, were starting to go down that route. Looks like Crawford's transformation into Broner is complete.
