A 50-50 split with Ward would've been GGG's biggest purse

The Forum holds 20K but it's outfitted for 12K for the GGG fight. How big is the population of the greater Los Angeles area? You know arenas are outfitted differently depending on the event.Comment

Im well aware of how to scale an arena. My point is in Ward you have a lifelong resident of the Bay area, Olympic gold medalist, undefeated super 6 winner, 7 million local population, and cant even sell 10,000 tickets in his own backyard?
Even Crawford does better numbers in friggin Omaha for crying out loud......Comment

If you look at the reply I made the guy said Ward only sold 3,000. That's Kovalev type numbers. And there ain't to many fighters right now that can put butts in the seats at the price Ward charges. Ain't nothing to do in Omaha and those tickets are cheaper. Everybody predicted Ward wouldn't sell anything because Bay Area legend Too Short sold out his concert that same night. And from what I'm hearing Ward has the best ratings on HBO this year. We'll know tomorrowComment

Actually, comparing Ward Kovalev to Canelo Triple Duck is comparing apples to oranges.We know Kovalev doesn't sell well that's why he has to travel. Ward has never had a PPV. You can't compare their fight to a Canelo fight who does double GGG numbers fighting Lara. Ward vs. Kovalev will be a good fight to compare. One fighter without a solid fan base and another fighter who only sells at home.
Ward is the "A" in the Kovalev fight. Both Ward and Kovalev have never sold a PPV.
Canelo is the "A" side in the Bumlovkin fight. Alvarez already holds the record for the second highest selling PPV in history.
It's much more fair and accurate to compare Ward Kovalev to Bumlovkin Lemieux - where all of the combatants in question were/are PPV neophytes..Comment

Regardless if first half of 2016 or second half of 2016 (Ward just now got back in the ring so most likely second half) they just signed to fight Lemieux and they knew they were going after Canelo whether that be the next fight or two fights later. Knowing that you don't make a deal for a fight at 168 at an unknown date when they have their mandatory position with Canelo, whom they obviously want. It's a very strange proposal to begin with then add the potential Canelo fight and it's easy to understand why they wouldn't agree to such terms at 168.The offer was for the first half of 2016, and just one fight in between.
Over the last few weeks, a lot has been said and a lot has been written with respect to a potential fight between WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) and WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs). As the finishing touches were being made to Golovkin's October 17th unification with IBF champion David Lemieux - Ward's promoter, Roc Nation Sports Chief Operating Officer David Itskowitch, emailed an official offer to Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions.
We would probably be watching the GGG/Ward 24/7 right now had GGG accepted.Comment

You haven't answered the question, Genius. Allow me to pose it a second time for those who have reading comprehension issues;
If Bumlovkin is after Alvarez then why accept step aside money not once but TWICE?
