It was a good win, but i thought he would have knocked someone like Barrera out within 12 rounds.

Perhaps Ward didn't mind getting a full 12 rds in, or a more active Ward would have stopped him. Boxing isn't always about KOs, Ward has beaten top opposition by taking away guys strong areas and then picking them apart. What Kovalev has on Ward is being very active, golovkin won't fight a 168 fighter, so how's he going to have a 175 lb fighter out anywhere besides to dinner?

Yeah they would opened up on Barrera and maybe got him out of there but you know this aint about who KOs the opponent faster - its who comes out with less damage and more money. #TMT.

Maybe you need to read my comment again. I didn't say GGG would have knocked out a LHW, i said he would have knocked out the #23 guy in his division like he did in the last couple years. The knockout just comes naturally if you know how to punch hard and take risks. Sadly Ward doesn't take risks, he doesn't care that much for exciting knockouts or cheering fans.

I don't understand how Kovalev has a chance of winning against Ward outside of a flash K.O. Ward has taken on heavy hitters and eaten shots, I doubt Krusher will be able to hurt him that bad.

No one mentions how Krusher will have to deal with Wards jab, the man has the most ferocious jab in boxing, its a head snapping shot and he throws it like a power shot right through the guard and backs up everyone he fights with it. Not one person he faced stood down his jab without backing up after the first one. You simply cannot walk through it.

The speed difference will be laughable because Kovalev is about as quick as Barrera and has far less movement. He only moves backwards and does not move his head. He is a catch and shoot defender and Wards timing will wreak havoc on him. How will he hit him with counters from a full guard?

He has to physically overpower Ward or he has zero chance to beat him. If he can't hurt him he has to box him and then its no contest.

I kind of agree. It was dominating, but he was still rusty, but I don't think he has anything to worry about. Barrera is a little bit slicker than Krusher. I really think Wards defense is good enough to take away Krusher power, but it's def the best fight in boxing because it's a 50/50 fight.

You must have been watching another fight then...it wasn't close. Ward controlled the pace, the distance, the aggression, landed the much cleaner punches...how was it close in the least?

Good comeback for Ward. A little rusty and wore down in the later rounds but that will change with a bump in activity.

I question his ability to do 12.

He faded late in the Froch fight too.
