Because Main Events agreed to drop the lawsuit and it was Golden Boy's way of getting back in good graces with HBO after Espinoza refused to pay $4mil for Canelo/Clottey. That's why he fought Kovalev for less money than he would've gotten to fight Stevenson for a unification.

Pretty slow chase, he's still talking one more tuneup. Wasn't long ago he was complaining how they're making him move up, and not the other guy, double standards

        1) Did Hopkins jump a weight class in doing it?
        2) I'm guessing you're #1 Kahn fan for him jumping up in weight w/o hesitation?
        3) Hopkins got crushed so that obviously wasn't a successful venture and the beating he took eclipses the bravery.

For a guy on Ward's level to say that dominating 168 isn't enough and that he wants to work his way up to the top guy in the next class (and that he isn't just entitled to an instant championship fight) is a show of courage, intelligence and humility, IMO. He's still coming out of a long layoff and working toward fighting the king in the next weight class. That's a big deal and it's a bigger undertaking than anything Kov, GG, or Canelo has done so yea, he gets some credit.

Which one of these was mando for 3 belts and lineal, and the biggest fight in boxing? I don't understand, was Ggg supposed to drop his Canelo mando for this, or was Ward gonna wait around for possible Canelo voluntary, then get his 50/50 split lol

He didn't have to drop his mando. His mando was supposed to be this spring. But he ended up dropping it anyway. And he's still not getting the fight. If team GGG showed any interest they wouldn't have come back with a 164 or no deal. Loeffler even admitted he didn't think Ward could make 168 anymore and when asked if he didn't think Ward could make 168 why offer him 164. Loeffler changed the subject to he really didn't offer Ward 164 it was just a back and forth email with Rafael. So we were right back at where we started. Ward sent over the offer and Loeffler rejected it without thought in less than 5 mins.

So this fall while Ward is fighting Kovalev and Canelo is fighting the winner of Bradley-Pacquiao, GGG will be fighting Heiland because they pulled out of the WBA purse bid with Jacobs because GGG can't fight off HBO and HBO is being cheap.

Hey redd if AW was serious about fighting GGG why did he move on so quickly and why did he not come back at 168 instead of 173?

Lets just hope Ward looks good tomorrow! I think he should make easy work of Barrera
I have Ward winning, but "easy work" it won't be. This fight actually isn't a tune up, fighting subpar opponents. He's fighting someone who can be considered number 2 in the division, just behind Kovalev. So, we'll see.

What? He didn't end up dropping it, Canelo has 15 days after Khan to agree to it or turn over the belt. If Ggg is contract bound to a fight in the spring (as the RN guy was explaining) they move on to next mando, in may

Gtfo with number 2. The guy has one fringe, top 20 win
