A short, or easy, fight..... will not help Ward.

Ward will be much better off being truly tested, I don't care what the haters say. If Barrera does better than expected, Ward will get bashed, but I am fine with that..... because Kovalev is completely different to Barrera.

Ward could be under-done and squeak past Barrera, but then be right on point by the time Kovalev rolls around.

I hope Barrera really puts it on him, I'm just not sure about Sanchez' game-plan. Sanchez should be giving no thought at all to what Ward will not/cannot do..... he should be preparing Barrera for EVERYTHING, not hoping that Ward is old and faded.

Yes, well stated. People don't seem to understand that Barrera is not an easy fight or a weak choice whatsoever. He's the worst kind of choice in that he's big, talented, and dangerous, but not well-known. So, you get no credit when you squash him, and suffer ridicule if he tests (or beats) you. I think Andre's crew specifically chose a big, strong guy to prep him for Kovalev. My big-picture prediction is that Kovalev is not going to be properly prepared for Andre Ward because Krusher has been fighting guys like Pascal and Mohamedi and there's been no talk of him taking a meaningful opponent before November. Ward choosing Barrera, and hopefully another challenging foe this summer, gets him back in the game and ready for the LHW king.

Careful what you wish for! Ward is a master of dirty tactics according to many on this forum. By initiating that type of behavior, Barrera would play into one of Ward's strengths.

Though it would be entertaining to see the usual Ward haters explain why it was okay for Barrera to foul but not Ward.....kinda like Mayweather vs Ortiz!
